Each year it seems an apparently ordinary footballer has a stellar season and sometimes goes on to a stellar career. Most blues fave would be Rats going from dogged back pocket to premier hardball man and triple b&f. But last year ordinary reject McPhee turned into a star and this year Gilbee went from trade bait to gun. I know Teaguey won our b&f but McPhee was AllAustralian and Gilbee is heading that way. I'd really hoped someone would jump up for us, I thought Sporney or Davies (wrong on both counts so far). Is there anyone on our list who can make that jump? We need it but I can't see who it will be. Waitey is a recognised talent improving as we would expect. We need someone to surprise us, but I can't see anyone on the horizon

I think Waite is our player. Brilliant year this season and gaining recognition from the media to go with it.

Collingwood chased Lindsay Gilbee very hard in the off season....the talent has always been there - it was just a case of harnessing that talent...Eade is very good at doing that. What a beautiful kick he is...I have him in my Nutri-Grain dream team and would love for someone on our list to come up like he has this season...Just who would it be from the current crop? Well I reckon there are a couple of rookies who are the goods at Carlton and in around 3 years we might see Mr. Smith and Mr. Becker play that sort of attacking, attractive football. Agree about Simmo though...he has impressed me this year....spend 5 - 10 minutes watching him on Friday...he runs to the right spot and delivers with accuracy...i like the boy.

Carazzo.

I think Whits and Waite wouldn't count according to the original criteria because they were always touted as future stars, which is why we're so hard on Lance.

Waite and Carrazzo by the length of the straight.

If we are talking about players who have improved out of sight this year, regardless of age, Barnaby would have to be my pick.

I really was impressed with Kade Simpson....v Richmond...won the ball well is composed and uses it well. Hitting targets is a topical issue at the moment and several names hav been put up as being our best users of the footy...well you can add Kade Simpsons name to that list....very polished little player who has come on and I expect him to really develop and deliver the ball in a Gilbee like manner for the future...when he gets it I actually feel confident who will do something with it and not turn it over...

I agree with PJ, Barney is one too.

So I'll amend my post above....

It should now read:
Carazzo, then Barney.

Livo also doesn't count, cos he was always expected to be a gun. I guess he might squeeze in as the expectations on him dropped remarkedly over the years...

Agree with all above but I reckon Chambers has the most potential to surge forward. He´s already shown glimpses. Speed, skill, hardness at the ball and proven goal kicker ... he´s got alot of traits desperately needed at Carlton and I cant see why he couldnt be a top 10 finisher in our B&F this year if he can stay on the park.

Chambers is good but nothing special at all. The guy get's the ball and doesn't look to find space and deliver, he's got all the skills, speed and everything you need but he get's the ball and runs to the opposition to get tackled.

Watch him, he never actually delivers the ball.
