No matter what set up we have forward, if our midfield is not aggressive and selective in how they deliver the ball we will not kick a winning score.

I believe we put it on the line and go with this:

De Luca - in the goal square lead to 30 - 40 out only. Kick the ball high and deep to the square.

Waite /Fevola - Start at 35 out and roam out to 60 metres out and if desperate as relief on the wing. Both have good leading ability, can kick distance (Fevola better than Waite) and can return lead and mark going back into 50.

Morrell - it has been unfair on this guy playing out of his depth in defense. he can actually give us a third or fourth marking option inside 50. A reasonable kick at goal.

Betts / Lappin - Our crumbers who both can take a reasonable contested mark, fair shots on the run and can apply good defensive pressure.

HF - Waite Fevola Lappin

F - Betts De luca Morrell

What do Geelong do then. If they match De luca with Scarlett we have the height, if he and Harley pick up Fev and Waite then Scarlett will be out of his comfort zone.

We will be mobile, thus not allowing multiple defenders to be near each other at once.

Longmuir can regain his touch in the twos, he will offer us something eventually but let him find it in the twos.

Whitnall - Rather use his football brains too cut the angles off in defense. Can at least crash the packs and offer a mature body. Let him run around and gain some fitness through defensive accountibility.

Our backline without injury and some brain cells could consist of:

B - Teague Livingston Norman

HB - Whitnall Thornton Prendergast

Our rebound will come through Thornton, and in some cases Norman. Prendergast and Whitnall just have to crash, bang and scrap at it. If no Livo then a Wiggins or Sporn.

This forward set up has some merit.

Thoughts....

De Luca does not deserve a game, needs a few in the twos for a touch. Put Bryan in his possie and give Frenchy some relief.

Backline is way too tall. Whitnall or Prenda or G.Anlett?

You make some sense with your forward line, but I'd definitely have Fev at Full-Forward and just open things up for him, give him space.

Forward set-up I'd like to see is:

HF....Whitnall....Waite....O'Hailpin
F......Betts........Fev.......Lappin

We are a stronger team this week with Fev and Livo due back, shame about Stevo's injury though.

Houla to takes Stevo's role, and kill 'em!

Better forward set up. I think we need to put DeLuca back in place of Setanta and maybe expose Geelong for height

You all do realise that the
HF: Blah, blah, blah
F: blah, blah, blah
formation never actually happens right?

well done for a crack at something different - not such a bad forward line

your backline does look a bit top heavy - but prefer giving whitnall a run down there

I fear though our biggest issue on Friday night will be the midfield....geelong were pretty damaging there in the last qtr vs the saints

Get the midfield to rove to King's tapouts and play French at FF.

Do anything that's not predictable...

Waite is NOT a long kick, and Scarlett's skill is picking the flight of the ball, taking it and running with it. Not a perfect pass to DeLuca and he's away.
Fev in the right frame of mind can at least put a lot of body pressure and make a contest if it's not coming into his chest....wonder if he'll be making wheely bin cracks on the footy show this week

I've got one that will shake the "predictability" of the game plan:

Let's play a loose man in the forward line :D
