Every club possessing superstars has to adjust their cap allocation to accommodate the payments to their top line players. It's basic. Blind Freddy could see that.

The whole argument of having an even list and paying them all pretty much the same is highly flawed and the ultimate example of bad management. Hence I said earlier, if we were to go down that path we'd be the laughing stock of the League. To even suggest that makes me shake my head in bemused wonder.

We need at least three or four players on or list with salaries in that range. It's not being greedy, it's the business of AFL and being a strong and powerful club.

Otherwise we will wallow. And the whingers will not be whinging about salaries but something else.

gee synbad a.k.a negative nellie we get your point.

no player should get more than $50k base salary and then match payments.

Righty oh ... lets do that come contract time, lets put them all on performance based contract, when they get injuried we can send them to the dole line to get welfare.

Are you kidding, it is as much the clubs responsibility to ensure the players are paid well and are kept happy within reason as it is the players playing to the best of their ability.

Every single one of the contracts "or the downhill skiers" as you like to phrase it where flying at the time when they negotiated their current contracts.

Kouta - our Million Dollar man - would have won us a flag by himself if it wasnt for the 3 years stuggling with a knee injury.

Whintall - was awesome when we signed his contract. Still think that Hamill was a massive lost to Whitnall - They where the perfect foil for each other. Whitnall had the class, Hamill had the brawn. Together they where an awesome combination.

Campo - again when he had the likes of Ratten and Co around him he was one of the best recievers in the land and was very very damaging. To suggest otherwise.

But alas - i get the feeling you would like everyone on a 2 week contract, and if they had a bad spell they would have their contract reduces by 50% and when they played well they keep their current contract.

Could someone please explain to me how performance based contract work in relation to the SC? eg all your players are on PBC's but the team has a shithouse year and they all underperform. In theory the TPP could end up being under the minimal requirement by the AFL which would get you in strife as well.

There are no performance based contracts. They exist in theory only.

One particular poster seems to have something against people making money out of footy.

Wonder what he would do if his employer offered him X amount of dollars more a year to perform his job..... assuming he has one :P . I doubt he'd say no thanks.

Michael S Gardiner - injury prone but big, strong and agro.

We should go after him big time - rather him to softy cakes Longmuir.

Gardy - our next million dollar man

The entire problem has been the backloaded contracts and long contracts the era of Carlton never loses a required player and we can buy whom we want.

I have no problem with players earnin 500 000 as long as its in line with their own ground performance/team performances/team support such as on the training track. The older guys runnin up the race as soon as official training is over is a sad indictment on a large contract.

I dont think we have any player that deserves a 500 thou contract on our list at this point in time.

I was being sarcastic about giving him a million dollars - but i would still take him.

Not for Fevola though no way (as proposed on other sites)
