The only positive is seeing the Magpies go down by 112 points to Freo lol

A perfect transcript of an SMS I received from my mate who is a Collingwood supporter:

"LMFAO....uz r a flower joke. Hahahaha"

That was at about 5 pm Saturday, wonder how he feels now with the SMS I sent him lol

Depressing when you have to scratch so hard for positives. Thornton and Waite were the only ones who gave a yelp.

...hopefully the return to our darkest days was just an aberration.

And Go Dockers!

So unlike the team, you scored in the first half?

Collingwood are on the bottom of the ladder.
Collingwood go beaten by more.
Collingwood will receive the majority of negative publicity this week.

How's that Jarusa. :P

Collingwood beat us and were the only team they have beaten.....
Hows that Surrey???

see i cant understand why some people get a fixation on laughing at Collingwood or Essendon*..
theyre probably going to clean up with the uncontracted players and gun kids....

dont know if its just me but i think we should be looking at what were doing....

Agree there synbad. i want Essendon* and cwood to get away from pp territory. The future of carlton is in our under 25 brigade and very few of them look to be more than good honest triers. It's going to be a long way back. we will blame draft pick losses, but our problem at the mo goes back before then. Getting liitle from our heavy investment in 2000, swapping early picks from McK in 2001, ditto our disastrous trading and draftin decisions in the late 90s. We lack talent and that's not an easy problem to fix.

Yes I'd agree with you there Gerry, I think our problems do go further back than 2002. If you look at our draft history from 1998 to 2002, this is really what we're paying for. The draft penalties just mean that the agony is extended a couple more seasons. If you look at the current performers at other clubs (especially under 25's) you'll see most of them arrived at their clubs or were drafted in the period 1998-2001. If you look at what this club drafted during this time it doesn't make pleasant reading by comparison. I'm not sure we were right to cut Blake Campbell when we did as he was drafted in 2000 (same as Wiggins, Sporn, Livingston, Bannister and McGrath), and we've given a lot more time to these players than we gave Blake. Perhaps he didn't have the application but from what I saw last year at the Bullants when he did get out on the ground he probably wouldn't have been any worse than what we've got right now. Still someone had to go off the list and long term we may well benefit more from the likes of Harlett, Raso and Russell but it'll be 3-4 seasons from now when they really stand up for us.

If only we'd taken our drafting more seriously in 1998-2002 :(

Kade Simpson was good..he uses the ball well and has composure in heavy traffic...he should remain in the team for the rest of the year.

Sentanta.....very raw but kicked his first goal and showed he has possibilities.

French after half time battled well...has no support..
Chris Bryan has to be played and given a chance..we need options....and not just for a game ..for several weeks and given a chance to show something.

Forget this game..it was reality check and that is a positive....nothing like a heavy loss to get things into perspective and weed out the players who are not good enough.....

pretty much agree with all of this ... for me, Kade's performance while the comedy club was happening all around him was a very pleasing effort. He had run, was winning some contested ball, and used the ball well.

Carlton involved in the best-attended match for the second week in a row. Interesting that the two other clubs (Hawthorn and Richmond) finished bottom and second bottom in 2004

Hey DBMots2 is that Michael Graham in your avatar? If so I would take him in his heyday. Lightning fast a ton of guts and great skills. He was one of the best players not to have played VFL/AFL footy - along with Barry Robram (SA) and Stephen Michael (WA).
