I haven't seen the game, and probably WON'T now I know the result.
Who didn't do their job?
Stevens and Campo heaps of possies - what did they do to them?
How did Coughlan get 38 possies? How did Krakouer get 5 goals?
What can be done to ressurrect the boys' form?
Stevens,Campo and Scotland had plenty of possessions, however many were in the back half.Johnson had a shocker..All 4 of our main on-ballers were very poor defensively and too often allowed their direct opponents to run forward unopposed..e.g Campbells 2 goals in the last quarter.
Simpson showed plenty. At least he can kick!
The real issue for us is a compete inability to take a contested ONE grab mark!.It really is our archiles heel!
Well campo had 8 inside 50's (and 7 rebound 50's) more than anyone else on the ground, 23 kicks, 17 of which were effective (2nd best on the ground), 9 contested possies (3rd best on the ground). Even then knockers could not argue that campo was downhill skiing today, by getting tons of easy possessions in the backline.
Simpson was good today.
Stevens was his usual professional self.
Whitnall, Lappin, and Waite the only others that could say they may have broken even.
I know you love your stats Jarusa but they don't always show the true picture.I raised the issue of our on-ballers poor defensive efforts at following their opponents forward.
Tell me what your stats show about their opponents and the goals that were kicked and set up.Show me where our boys were?
Someone asked how Krakouer was able mark unopposed in the 3rd quarter?.Your stats won't tell us but i can..Johnson did'nt follow him forward.
How did Campbell kick 2 goals in the last quarter?....No stats required..Campo let him run forward unopposed!
Yeh, good on ya. I am the first to say stats can mean stuff all.
I actually watched the game and disagree on that basis that they were getting lots of cheap possies in the back line.
Sure ask questions about coughlan, seem to remember that licuria also had a field day on stevens as well. I am not prepared to criticise him too much as long as he gets heaps of possies, but they were relatively innefective today so he is open to a bit of criticism.
please, the stats don't tell the whole story argument is tiresome, of course they don't, but guess what, armchair analysis is not spot on either!
