We might not have the picks to Trade for Humphries this year, (he's contracted till 2028) but GCS List will be ripe for the picking starting next year.
Quote:
The big one is next year when Brownlow Medalist Matt Rowell comes out of contract as a free agent.
Rowell weighed up a move last year after touring Western Bulldogs and Collingwood, among others, and could be the 2027 version of Port Adelaide’ Zak Butters.
If superstar Nick Daicos wants a running mate at Collingwood, Rowell’s the one. Richmond would be desperate, too.
Hang on. Crippas contract comes to an end next year. He's on at least $1.2M.
Perfect timing to add Rowell who will be 26yo in 2027, when Walsh is 27yo, Smith is 22yo, Walker 20yo,Lord 23, Cerra 29 and Ainsworth 30. Not a bad midfield group with Kouta joining us end of 2027 Arli Walker joining us end of 2028. Surely we will Trade for a mid this year, not Humphrey, but a good 24-5yo to add to the current group.
Rowell will be an RFA. Will GCS match? That depends on what we can offer him in terms of dollars. Perhaps a heavily front loaded contract GCS would do the job. GCS werent able to match Jack Martin's $1M first year offer from Carlton and we got him for nothing.
Will they have room to match? Capt Noah Anderson should also be a RFA unless he's been signed up in recent years.
With recent signings of Rioli, Petracca, Noble Ben king makes a decision to continue with GCS' offer of $1.2M+?
Quote:
Spearhead Ben King is undecided on his future and has left the door ajar on a move to Hawthorn, Bailey Humphrey is a shadow of his former self, Jed Walter is yet to sign a two-year deal and they’re not even the biggest one.
Jammarra is only on a year by year proposition. He will need to be recontracted too. GCS salary cap will be stretched.
Get Rowell. Growing up he was a mad carlton fan and always wanted to play for Carlton. Nothing wrong with having players who barracked for Carlton as kids. We have a few of those now: Cowan, Carroll, Dean, Walker, Williams, Hollands...
