They'd at least have to invite him to apply should we make the 10.

Without going through the numbers, to the eye it looks like we're handballing more & kicking less. Which is good because some of our field kicking against Geelong was shocking

Conversely some of our handball chains lately make us look like a top side.

Of his wins, I thought the game against the Dogs was a pretty terrible standard for 3q, & the Port match the oppo were very sub par. But can't ignore Friday night, absolute breakout win since he took over.

The kids are getting a game but it's a bit of a myth to say that Voss didn't play kids. Last year was a terrible season but one of the positives out of it was we unearthed some good young talent.

I get the feeling Fraser's persona is just what the squad needs at the moment. For all Voss' failings, his strength appeared to be his connection & relationship building with the players. But maybe that was also his greatest undoing. Maybe at the end they were so stressed & nervous about their mate losing his job that they kept showing it on field & shitting the bed when the pressure came on.

With Fraser it's different. You see him interviewed & he's all business - not an asshole or anything, but more a pure coach who the players aren't going to hate, but also aren't going to be emotionally invested in. He reminds me a bit of Longmuir of Fremantle, who I have a lot of time for.

4 weeks ago the results mattered some ones job was on the line - the playing group hasn't been able to handle this expectation for years

Now results don't matter - just go out and play

we haven't had a coach in years who has been able to get this team up when results count

We will see after this block of 4 games and if we are pressing for wild card and expectations rise if Josh can get through to the playing group

We still have some talented players on the list but they are the most mentally fragile group in the entire comp

It is breaking through that which is going to be difficult for anyone who takes over and this has hung around for nearly 30 years - Even the 99 Prelim was a free hit no one expected us to win and the following week when there were high expectations we failed dismally - Same applies to the prelim against Brisbane we put ourselves in a terrifc position to win that game but they couldn't handle it

I don't know a lot about Josh and his coaching abilities but it is getting over the mental barrier that is the issue not positional changes or ball movement

I can't vouch for the accuracy of these figures.

But they sure make good reading.

From "If not Voss, then who?" in relation to those stats.

They got you good with those stats Hornet.
The first 5 rounds we were putrid.
But with a new game plan and 6 new players, logically it was going to take time.
So to position this as Voss v Fraser 2 games in, is just really good click bait.
If you watched the video I posted on the previous page from Daniel Hoyne you would understand.
For the last 6 weeks (4 Voss & 2 Fraser) we have been:
#1 Transition from D50 to F50
#1 Scoring from D50 to F50
#3 Uncontested marks
#3 45 degree kicks.

Of the stats from ESPN I can only find the stats for D50 to F50 (on Wheelo ratings) and that is as follows:
Last 10 weeks - #7th (25% average)
Last 5 weeks - #1 (33.7% average)

This is our game breakdown for that stat:
Round 0 - 13.3%
Round 1 - 16%
Round 3 - 19.6%
Round 4 - 27.3%
Round 5 - 11.9%
Round 6 - 18.4%
Round 7 - 26.7%
Round 8 - 45.2%
Round 9 - 31%
Round 10 - 33.3%
Round 11 - 33.3%

I am surprised I couldn't find an uncontested mark stat for all teams, however I found this.
We are number 5 for contested marks and number 10 for marks this season on AFL site.
And for example in Round 0 we took 69 marks, 8 of those were contested and 13 were intercept marks.

Logically, we have been building this game plan all season and it looks like it is finally working.
Fraser and all the interviewed players have all said this also.
The coaching team have been working tirelessly in the background building, changing and adapting all season, which is what we all wanted this year.
And both Voss and Fraser have been talking about consistency in every post game presser.
Because our achilles heel is consistency, accuracy and mental fortitude, hopefully we are building on those too.
This week is the big test to how far we have developed and how much this team has gelled.

The referred to post.

Yep.
As stated by players, this time from Hewett.
Quote:
"I think 'Vossy' definitely laid the platform for us to play the right way," Hewett said.

"He thought that him stepping away might release the pressure. I think the boys are playing like that at the minute. I don't know, it's slowly all coming together. The young guys are playing well and have been exciting.

"Tonight we just got the play done and 'Crippa' took a pretty clutch mark. There was about 90 seconds left and sometimes you do need structure, but you just need heart and effort in the last minute and I think that's how we got it done."

Keep him as senior assistant.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I buy absolutely nothing into the praise of Voss from the players after he left. Zero.

We’ve all worked in organisations where we’ve privately cheered and celebrated the departure of toxic people whilst being diplomatic in front of others.

Remember the Eulogy song by the Chaser? That’s how Voss is being remembered now in public
