What a surprise.... Geelong is actually the preferred option for Charlie Curnow!
I'm shocked...it's almost like the Sydney Swans/Gold Coast thing was devised by the manager to throw one off the scent. Who would have thunk it?

All the really good players (in Victoria) want to get to Geelong under the "equalisation" model we live under.

Here's a reminder. He's under contract and under NO conditions should he get to Geelong. Some club has to make a stand at some point to try and stop this misuse of the system.
If he is desperate to get out he goes to Richmond, North Melbourne, Essendon**, West Coast etc. Geelong play unders to get star players to their team. Jeremy Cameron for pick 13 and pick 15 effectively is a joke. Can anyone tell me what games by Ryan Angwin and Conor Stone for the GWS they can remember? How many times have Angwin and Stone been in the All-Australian squad? Oh that's right..none.

Trading is a complete joke. No more. Take a stand. Keep him at the club playing no games for the whole season...I don't care as long as he doesn't get to Geelong.

For Connor O’Sullivan, I’d drive him there myself.

He's played 3 games...and might be good sometime down the track.

We NEED two proven key forwards. Curnow is a proven good key forward. Sure he had injuries this year but in 2023/24 he had some great games - 2023 Kicked 6 vs Collingwood (The so-called best defence in the league) and 5 against Geelong in 2024.

Under NO circumstances should he get to Geelong. It is an opinion game though...half glass full/half glass empty... Some say...yeah, let him get to Geelong and ensure they play in their 20th finals series in a row, others will say "No, hold onto him."

The compensation pick for De Koning is on the market, according to Twomey.

No surprises there. Probably slides all the way back to 13, unless we deal it to Gold Coast or Brisbane. Those two clubs are the only ones getting full points value.

Crusader can you explain the reason and logic behind why the TDK pick would be on the market when we presumably need that pick and JSOS Pick for Dean and ISON

Are we trying to get another player in addition to Dean or ISON in the draft or is it to use on one of the players we are trying to get in

I get it is difficult to tell exactly what picks we need as Dean bid might need to be matched if someone goes early on him and he could go anywhere between about pick 5-15 and ISON could go pick 30 or so

Ed and his old man need to have a word in his ear….they are good sensible people. Ultimately, so is Charlie. However, he’s getting ahead of himself.

I'd assume it would be one of the following:
1. Trade back down the order for a player and a pick. i.e. Flanders and a 2nd rounder
2. Trade back down the order for picks, with overs going our way like we did last year for Smith.
2. Trade up the order with a Curnow or someone else for a gun player and/or picks. i.e. pick 1

Busy week at Geelong:
Charlie Curnow
James Worpel
Rowan Marshall

And it is still September.

Most likely they’re hoping to cash it in for more points, with a bonus pick in the top 30 before matching a bid for Ison.

Shenanigans & team needs aside, I’ve got Dean rated in the late teens. It’s the lack of similar types that is driving his value up. Not that he isn’t a genuine top 20 pick, but there’s a bit of a Carlton tax to it.

Xavier Taylor is the best pure defender in the draft. At 191cm he’s a half back, but will hold his own if dragged deep. Harry is the best of the full backs, but needs to be at 193cm.

Just my opinion, but the mids are well underrated on the early rankings.

Gold Coast won't be willing to trade any highly rated academy players or draft picks from this year as they are needed to obtain their 3 academy draft prospects. So I expect they might offer something like a future first + Ballard + Flanders for Charlie.

Swans might be willing to offer their 2025 and 2026 1st round draft picks plus steak knives.

Forget Geelong as they wouldn't get close to satisfying us in a trade.

Shore up the backline for 1 year while HOF is out and Dean settles in?
