how does list management paint itself into such a corner where our best small forward is motlop, we have to play a guy called francis evans (who was rejected by 2 clubs prior... and somehow it has orchestrated all of this with no draft picks when we sit 14th on the ladder.

also, pittonet 4 year deal.

2025 recruiting policy.

1. Can they kick the football.
2. Do they have leg speed.
3. Refer to the first two needs.

Did I read a couple of pages back that we are gonna re sign Motlop?!

This club is truly destined for another 30 years of failure.

This isn't the list—that was pretty obvious over the summer. And because it isn't the list, it isn't the game style. The club has snookered themselves, and it'll be that way for a little while yet. There's not a quick fix.

Might be made a bit quicker if De Koning leaves.

This is quickly going to become the worst list in the AFL. Cripps, weitering, curnow, McKay, jsos, saad, Newman, Hewett, have all peaked and are closer to the end than the beginning. Our u23 talent would have to be the worst in the league. In one draft Richmond have more promising youngsters coming through than we at the whole club. We are truly [REDACTED]

The club’s intent was to build from the ground up. That was 2015.

Most were on board as we had an aging list which had peaked.

Fantastic start where the club had effectively established its spine in one draft.

However, it has proven to be a false dawn.

I am convinced it’s primarily due to player and game development.

Poor recruiting has played a part but our reliance on individual brilliance to win games has never been sustainable.

Too much reliance on our better players has been our downfall. A cohesive and sustainable game plan where there is versatility beats this every time. We get exposed continuously when we get injuries as our depth and game plan doesn’t stack up.

Just consider some of the players that were on the field last night. They are sub standard. Motlop should have been dropped earlier this year. But who replaces him.

Now we are backed into a corner where we may have to trade some big name players to regenerate the list and game plan. An unfortunate position that we have seen too many times before.

Can we trade out players in the mid season draft?

I’m thinking Motlop, Forgarty, Binns and Evans for a couple of state league small forwards.

for years i criticized sos poor recruiting and Now we have Nick Austin who has recruited just as poor he might have to trade a name player to get back into a first rnd selection (fix mess he created )

Trade our quality at your own peril.
We delisted depth to get youth in and now everyone is whinging about our depth.
Wait until we lose our quality….for more top picks - just to realise we can’t develop and start again!!!

Situational analysis looks at both sides;

2015 total rebuild started from Scratch...just to catch up to the rest of the comp in 5 years time.

We haven't caught up, yet. But we have the nucleus for any crafty list manager to add the bits needed.
There's Jagga and Austin's last pieces to come.
TDK will be replaced by a ruckman of note, no doubt.

2025 Our best team can beat any team. Unfortunately we never have our best team available to play.
Its not a time for a rebuild, its time to keep building om what we have got.

Right this minute, adding Boyd and SOS to the list we have 13 not available till proven fit. That has tested us.

We've won all games with 8 or less missing; 5 was our lowest against Geelong. That says it all.

On a side note: We could do a Bradbury and win it this year
But one thing is for sure, Vossy needs another half dozen half decent players replacing the ones we carry to give us a fighting chance through 24 rounds like all the good teams do.

Can't blame injury prone players for our situation now, so Austin has got to be replacing bottom 6 next trade period.
Plus we have an FS and 3 NGA players to consider. Austin is juggling with BIG decisions.

Austin has some last year juggling to do to end his tenure with his reputation in tact.

The TDK dilemma has been front of mind since his last contract taking him to this FA period.
The Domino starts with TDK, then lets see

In the meantime, we better hope our players stand up fit and start their winning streak at the right time this season
