Similar vibes from Essendon* supporters

Good on him!

Having said that, he never held back on his criticism of Carlton either.

87 was the first flag in which I was truly invested. I don't think he ever got the credit in the industry that he deserved for that flag. A lot of talk about 'anyone could have coached that team to a flag'.

Nonsense.

What he did at Fitzroy as coach too was amazing.

RIP Wallsy.

I saw him play his first game. Kicked 3 from memory but didn't get a lot of media coverage because another first gamer in the other side kicked 4 his name Peter Hudson. Carlton won BTW.
Re the '87 premiership team, my mail from that time said Wes Lofts approached Wallsy after the game and said ''That's the least talented Carlton premiership side ever, congratulations well done''.

Says it all really.
RIP Rob.

Not doubting Wes said that Murray.

We became strange friends over the last ten years of his life and it’s the sort of thing he’d say but I reckon I’d take this mob over the 1906-08 threepeat mob any day…

Alvin Silvagni Glascott
Aitken Rhys-Jones Dean
Kennedy Bradley Robertson
Dennis Kernahan Hunter
Meldrum Dorotich Naley
Madden Johnston Murphy
Gleeson McKenzie

If Wallsy couldn’t mark it, he’d make sure it got it to ground or knocked it too advantage.

Good on ya Walllsy…you made dreams come true!

He sacrificed his marking game for the benefit of his team and team mates - because of it some don’t rate him as a great marking player - but make no mistake he could clunk a high mark with the best of them.
