charlie had a 3-4 week injury and turned it into 2 years. wasn't it like 4 separate knee injuries that had nothing to do with footy and training?
basketball, squatting 100kgs at home before he had clearance to even do weights, fell up some stairs. i'm positive there was another one.
no one is saying the guys can't live. but they're being paid good money to play footy. with all the talk of mac andrew's contract, and harley reid being the first 20million dollar player - look for afl to start writing in contracts like NFL & NBA where they can't surf, or skate or play other sports outside their profession and outside their season etc
Don't read Sam McLure articles if you want there truth Braithy.
He had a 3-4 week medial sprain and dislocated his knee cap playing basketball 4 months later. You suggested he did it while he was supposed to be resting it. That's not correct.
He slipped and fractured it at a later date which we don't have the facts on.
He later injured it doing weights but it was 5 months post surgery. He was already at a high level of training so to suggest he didn't have clearance is incorrect. The issue was with his medical treatment. The screw holes within the knee cap became the issue. I was told by a parent of another player that the screws had been improperly placed in the knee which caused the problem. The knee cap fracture was healing fine but the screw holes weren't.
That's why the club engaged a different surgeon to conduct another procedure.
Charlie wasn't negligent, he was just a young person doing what young people do. It's the club that failed the player if anything.
