I hope TDK has an extra spring in his step after the rest, to jump over or into Briggs.

Brigg's learned his craft from Mummy and Preuss, and you know what that means. Will be a fascinating battle.

Besides the wet track, I think Vossy has selected TDK to ruck on his own to see how he handles those types of ruckmen.

@bondi cheers for your post, but no need to apologise. I urged you to come back for a reason, you know. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not upset by a bit of feisty convo. And I don't hold grudges. For me, a grudge is a place to pork your cor!

I’m at Lidcombe at the in-laws where I can see the stadium in the distance from top floor window. Scattered showers all night and cloudy now. Will continue with scattered showers during today. 60% chance of rain tomorrow but we’ll see when we get closer.

10 degrees last night and going for 9 Saturday night. However it is almost always warmer in Sydney than you think due to humidity vs Melbourne.

Edit: no mould here either.

Last night's rain was huge. I thought I was in the Daintree.
Sunny now on the coast. Patches of rain drifting through.
I hope the renderer is still coming today.

If we are lucky most of the rain will pass by before the game.
60% chance of 0-2mm falling tomorrow. That's great news.

I'm using a mould to shape some cakes for the footy tomorrow.
The shape is so apt. CCF insignia :smoking:

Do we currently have the best backline?

Since Swans game opposition have been held to 73, 71, 70, 75, 70 points.
Speaking of points, those numbers point to the hardest defense to score against last 5 games.

Last week Newman ran 13.8 kms playing HB pressing to the wing.
The week before Weitering ran 15.4 kms playing FB on Hawkins pressing up to wing
Week before Kemp playing HB ran 15.2 kms pressing to wing

Fittest: These are just the backmen. The players are super fit.

Flexibility: Other than Weiters, the backmen have swapped roles each week. Last week Kemp played BP and Gov HF.
Vossy swapping roles enables each defender to know the different roles giving us even more flexibility.
Fluidity and support: This also helps the players predict what what each player will likely do next in whatever role they are playing

Cowan 19yo baby is trusted with the big job locking down on oppo star each week: Martin (Effen), Miers (Gee), Bolton (Ric)
Ditto Boyd, but Boyd has been locking in on the dangerous small forwards and likely to get Green again this week.

We all know what Saad can do. He's being freed up to run amok instead of being stuck in a lockdown role. He does play against players with express speed like Stengle or Pickett.

Then there's Cincotta locking down the oppositions most dangerous supplier upfield.

Give us the cup.

Hewett has been fantastic for us this year. Started the first 5 rounds as one of our best 5 players, and hasn't lost form.
He deserves his spot in the team. He has swapped sub role with Kennedy.

Us fans may be getting a bit cocky, maybe ahead of ourselves, and hope the players picked don't become over confident.

If Vossy can omit a player the ilk of Hewett, that sends a message to players to avoid complacency, because knocking at the door is:

Hewett
Marchbank
Pitttonet
Cuningham
Motlop
Martin

Pressure from above quality players on players on every line.

I still believe the sub will be either Fantasia (4 Goals last week) or Owies (3 goals the week before) with Motlop drooling for their spot, and Durdin to return.

How reassuring is this situation, where I can go to the game full of confidence and bravado, :fight: knowing the players have good reason to be confident to win the game, with support from a great fanbase, but they cannot be overconfident or complacent and risk their spot in the team.

Is it 1995 again? Feels like it. Lets just pray the Footy Gods continue look after us.

I was going to reach out to dannyboy to write a piece (overdue) in a new thread. I wanted to call it The Peace Pipe, or Lets make TC great again, or Stronger Together... but thought there's no time like now to say what needs to be said. Apologies if there's grammatical mistakes. I'll read it in the morning.

There's a great video that was released last year featuring Vossy after every game .
Win or lose you wouldn't have known.
Vossy was consistent. Same facial expression, same tone, same message, same beliefs.
He didnt lose sight or stray from the road to the end goal. He understands human beings and is a great leader of men.

Over the last couple months I have had plenty of time to think about is the pain and suffering us Carlton fans have had to endure since 2002.
The scars of constantly losing and our hopes and dreams smashed before half the season has even been completed, year after year.
I think about our fears, and our egos and every ones passion that drives us to work out what we need to win. How can we help?

There's no right or wrong on these forums, but from our own perspective we believe we are right because we want what's right for Carlton.
We argue and debate and discuss and hate, but we all want the same thing. Whatever is best for Carlton to win.
Vossy has shown patience and the ability to nurture and guide the team to become better every week.
After every loss he has used it as a lesson of what the team needs to fix and the team comes out a different team for the better.

The team plays for each other and the care and love between the team mates is there for all of us to see, since the Effendon loss last year.
The team believes in Voss and we are grateful to Voss for pulling us all together; the team, the fans, who have seen success and fans who have yet to taste it.
We are Stronger Together and the players honour the motto.

I truly believe Vossy when he says we are not the finished product, and I trust this team because the players trust each other and the coach.
Like BV said above, Vossy likes winning. Vossy is a winner, and will do whatever is needed for Carlton to win the ultimate prize.
I believe this squad is revving up as Vossy tweaks and adjusts the game plan to ensure we are ready for battle at the pointy end of the season.
We are getting back our injured players and there's pressure for spots. We have never been fitter.

I believe we will win the flag with one ruck or two rucks TBH. It is a united team on the same page who will win the ultimate prize.
My want for 2 rucks comes from a place called fear. I want Insurance. But I know whatever Vossy decides, he will make the right choice.
I don't want to hear we will lose with Pitto in the ruck, or with two rucks or no ruck in the GF. It scares me.
So I'd like you all to know, I respect your fears and your desire to do whatever it takes to ensure Carlton wins the ultimate prize.

We are in a position today which is a foreign place. The Cup is a strong possibility. We can all almost smell it. We aren't use to this feeling, and don't want to lose it.
There are 12 teams that can play Finals at this stage, not much separates them, and the competition for the ultimate prize has never been so open.
Our job is to support Voss and show him and the players the trust we have in them as they show towards each other.

Sorry if I've upset any of you, and I know I have. Some I didn't mean to, BV, some I did on purpose today to turn the tables on them.
You are all part of my Blue Brethren, and I appreciate the support you give my team, your team, our team.

We are stronger together, and united we bring the noise to games, a noise and passion unmatched by others.
So hopefully we can let by gones be by gones, and we forgive and forget the crap we have dished out to each other in the past.
Lets enjoy this ride with Vossy and this fantastic squad we have. Lets put our arms around the boys who miss out on selection every week.
Every player in our squad helps create the comradery we all admire today. So lets respect and all enjoy each others connection to the same thing: Carlton.
Remember how good it feels when you meet someone new and you ask them who they barrack for, and they say Carlton. We are those people.
Don't let age or eras separate us. We are all in this together.

We know today we are heading in the right direction. If there's blips along the way, so be it, call it out, respectfully, but lets remember we are heading in the right direction.
Its a great feeling being a Carlton supporter in 2024. Finally we believe we are good. I want to enjoy the ride with all of you. Lets make TC great again, and feel the love.

I look forward to celebrating a flag with you all hopefully this year. bb

Go Blues

Good onya BV. I will respond to your PM.
My Message bank was full till January, but I'm learning, and I will learn how to use the PM functions.
And thanks to all the messages from fellow TC's whilst I was absent.
GM Chris, I don't know how your found my personal contact, and glad you did.

I'll see a few of you at the footy, and buy CK's kids a couple oranges to enjoy...blue oranges...Gorringes.
CK, don't be a hero, you really should wear more than an iron maiden T Shirt.

Edit. PS: I hope you continue to enjoy your holiday, and Carlton keeps winning for you.
Cheers mate.

Currently waiting outside Engie Stadium for the captains run.

Apparently the team flight was delayed so they'll be on in a bit.

So long as we have a backup for Weitering should anything happen, we'll be ok.
We'll know by quarter time if we've come to play.
