Williams goal over his head was a bit of a snorter don’t you think?

I’d like to see Cincotta developed in a real ball winning midfield option - I hope we don’t leave him as a shitty shutdown tagger for too long.

Agree, but it wasn't a classic tag

Yeah, I thought Cincotta played on Miller.
Also, how about some recognition for the coaching?
We are very quick to knock the coaching team but they got the match ups right for the most part and also it was a good move to push Charlie deeper in the 2nd half.

Seemed to be starting at half forward as BV said and go to wing and midfield opponents... (I was at the ground and he seemed to be swapping all the time).

There was likely instructions about who to go to when GCS set up different ways.
As BV said, I don't think Cinc ever started at a Centre bounce on Miler (maybe I missed it) but would go to him at other times...

As i said, maybe our coaches identified something like 'if Miller isn't in close at a ball up, lock him down'?... I'll have to review the game/tapes

Go Blues

Some observations after watching the replay.

- Cripps kicking was brilliant.
- We really dominated for most of the first half. Needed to have much more scoreboard pressure. Our entry in to F50 was ordinary. We just have to be much better at hitting the shorter lead up. Walsh a major culprit.
- TDK was fantastic.
- Harry was really good.
- Charlie sensational second half.
- Williams great with class up forward. I’ve mentioned that I’ve thought he’s been a liability earlier in the season. Credit where it’s due, fantastic game. Goes to show how desperately we have been missing a quality small forward that can hit the scoreboard. Prime Eddie would kick 50 plus in our current forward line.
- Fog doing what Fog does.
- Cowan just looks like a player. And so young. Keep him in.
- Fantasia better and great use when ball in hand.
- When we bring the heat and contest like that, we are very hard to beat.

Huge next 2 games. Hoping we can split at a minimum. Of course, would dearly love to win both.

Loved seeing George sneak off his opponent for a goal at the start of Q3.

We only won by 5 so he's made it an 8 point game, single handedly

Don't mind if that's the default position (ball winning midfield option) but depending on the opposition, he has the mental application and will to also lockdown on dangerous half forwards (Pickett types), midfield ball winners (Daicos types) and running half backs/medium interceptors (Stewart, Sinclair types)

He looks like the typical player who has had to fight for everything he has and takes nothing for granted...big call but he is now one of the first picked for mine. I'm a big fan

Over the shoulder goals like Williams' goal are rare in the modern game. Against team rules? Mind you he copped one high just before the snap so would normally be lining up for a goal directly in front.

Nice to see us try some things:

1 ruck (through neccessity, but still...)
Cincotta starting up forward as a defensive half-forward / on-baller
Williams forward
Fantasia on the wing

Increasingly you have to have a rump of footballers who can play more than one position. I'm glad to see we're sorting though our list to find who can.

Just saw this too

Anthony Hudson: “Some real positives in it for Carlton which Michael Voss referred to post game, Cincotta play as an out-and-out tagger on Anderson on the ball & Williams for the second week in a row spending some time forward. So they are trying some things, the Blues.

Now I REALLY have to watch the tapes..... He tagged everybody!
