Good news, last time Swans won 9 of first 10 was in 1945, and we all know what happened that year :fight: :fight: :fight:

Gov pending weiters injury of course.
Yes he's a half decent kick but other than that doesn't offer a heap.

I hope the boys step up and put the foot on the throat of the suns next week.

6-4 with a hard draw so far is acceptable.

We were bottom 4 or there abouts this time last year.
It's not as bad as it seems, look at the cats.

Swans have a full list and were at home.
Let's win the next couple, work a few players back in and reassess.

I’ll be surprised if we win one of the next 3.

That was horrible to watch

Yep forget tonight.

Fire up next week at home, suns don't generally travel well.

Have a dip against a sometimes fragile port.

Beat the drug cheats.

Reassess.

Regain some players.

Not all doom and gloom

Oh man, you were serious.

Gov's return was pivotal to beating Melbourne. Absolutely dominated the first quarter, read the game and gave us quick rebound out of the D50. Everyone watching the game immediately recognised what we'd been missing. Yeah he struggled after Weitering went off when he had to play KPD instead of interceptor, with Marchbank doing his typical glacial restart after injury (not knocking Match too hard, if he can play 3+ consecutive games he will be a great addition). For a team that struggles with structure and moving the ball with pace, Gov is essential.

Injuries are an excuse but I still can’t see this list winning a premiership.

Top end is great but don’t have enough quality at the bottom end. We rely too much on our better players.

Not enough overlap run to be a serious contender. The Sydney runners tore us apart.

Hopefully with luck we get some more finals experience this year but we should start adjusting our gamestyle to set us up for a full tilt shot at the flag in a couple of years.
Currently our best team fully fit is as good as any teams but we are injury prone and play a taxing game to get through a whole season in good shape. And the coach needs to let go of a ideas.

Longmire and his team are the best in the business and proved that again tonight.
They shepherded our attacking mid (mostly Cripps) at the centre bounces and held him back away from the stoppages and first possession all night and our coaches didn’t have a clue. Our one wood as negated and once again it proved we had no plan B. Just embarrassing from a group of experts.

You come up against a side that has 17 players play every game and another 3 only missed 1 and 2 more only missed 2.

You are going nowhere until you have a consistent team playing together for an extended period of time.

I think we gave that one up pretty easily tonight. Mentally it has been a tough 5 weeks trying to beat the best week in, week out with half the side out. Not to mention some blokes that are in still underdone. Tonight, we mentally crashed.

Wish we got the draw against the Pies. 2 1/2 out of 5 in that hard run, given the circumstances, would have been more than acceptable.

I've watched him shirk too many contests to ever say he is essential.
So many times he can crash a pack and doesn't. Holds off.
Runs the long way around instead of creating contact.

He's more the icing on a pretty finished cake than anything essential

Lack of pace/skill through the middle

Coaching

Injuries

Small forwards that generally contribute very little week in week out (swap Motlop and Fogarty in and it may be a different story).

The only season in the past 7 where we had more than 3 players play every game was the covid year where they only played 17 games

The Recruitment of Fantasia would have to be one of the Worst we ever made!

Our forward line does not function if the big boys don't mark it. Durdin is having a shocking year and Martin keeps getting injured.

Worst moment of the Game: Last Quarter- Rowbottom runs throw Durdin, shrugs him off so easily and then kicks a goal. What a Piss Weak effort by Durdin!

to think we were a premiership fave early on

this is the impact the injuries have had on us, and will continue to have on us

but we also, from the bits i saw, played like we had given up after the first quarter. the mindset was really poor, leading to stupid plays, dumb kicks and so many missed tackles

this team are still a bunch of headcases

when we have the last two coleman medallists and one is in the backline says the coach is putting band aids on bullet wounds as well. thats almost conceding defeat, particularly when our small forwards are totally useless

i did sense that as soon as weiters got hurt in the first quarter, the swans woke up and realised we were then going to struggle, and we gave up

would love to be a fly on the wall in the changerooms after this

a bolton and teague like performance

The thing I struggle with most with this group is…

How many of our players would you describe as “smart” footballers?

Most other teams seems to have a number of them (Heeney, Warner, Gulden, Mills, Parker, etc, etc, etc) but who are ours?

Our players seem to make an insane number of stupid choices every game.

Maybe Newman?

Maybe Acres in intent though not necessarily execution (unless it’s in the last 90 seconds).

Weiters?

Other than them I’m stuck…

We have players who can be brilliant but we also have two of the flakiest Coleman winners in history who seem to be so caught up in their own heads for 90% of the game they become ineffective. Would either of them have actually won a Coleman if we’d had a properly functioning forward line with others sharing the load over the last three years?

We also have a captain who when things get dire decides to replace team rules with “I am He-Man and I will take on the entire opposition backline even though I can’t kick 40 metres on a good day.”

We are dumb.
