Great post. The revisionist historians on here bend the truth like a Herald Sun journo. We offered Waite what he was worth and wanted him to stay. He is excellent as a 3rd forward when Petrie and Graham take the heat. He wouldn't and didn't perform like that for this club.The question that should be asked is why the AFL didn't give Carlton compensation.

Look I've read his info on the Tomlinson trade offers of last year with a huge pinch of salt because, like all the others of the time, they don't pass a simple test of logic. I haven't been scouring and comparing rumours and sources and claims so I defer to others on how his recent form stacks up.

That said, this is such generic info that people who would know would happily tell a journo, so why are people poking holes in it? Do you know differently? Does the time frame really seem ridiculous? Given all the talk of a three-year rebuild back to finals, is it actually wrong?

I think the bigger problem here is how people sort and sift through rumours. You're just another cog in the club's counter-intelligence machine kids.
