Yes he would be "elite" in the vain of Harris, Aylett, Mcguire. He is an elite talent. Are you asking is he "elitist"?
Dual premiership captains can lead the masses. We need brain power.

He's sat on the board in the past... granted it was a long time ago but I keep having to make that point.

This whole anti-Fitzpatrick thing reflects his attitude towards the same AFL status quo you all harp on about. The game will be significantly poorer for it if he's moved on and things stay the same.

I'd have him, think it's excellent timing.

I don't mind the Gooch, think he's trying very hard to make significant changes via solid processes and not making those decisions on a "whim". If we want to make a change to the board as a whole besides someone like Fitzpatrick there is absolutely no one else.

The rest are far more comfortable in the shadows!!!

I'm probably wrong, but I always got the impression Fitzy wouldn't do anything for nothing. As in unpaid work like being a Prez . Only my impression

He stood up to the Essendon* and Swans Mafia and narionalised the game. Collins was an admin guy not a businessman. There is no one better to negotiate a stadium deal than Fitzy and he is the only person with the clout to attract a talented board to force change.

Sometimes the reward isn't the pay packet, but altruism is perhaps better utilised outside of AFL circles.
