Menzel has clearly been nicked up during the year, and it's unfair to compare him playing/not playing vs other players. No two injuries are the same nor are two player's tolerance for pain while playing.

Like any small forward, he stands out by his absence when he doesn't pick up a lot of the ball.

He needed a little bit of convincing (not a huge amount, but a little) to stay last year ( his brother plays at a well run club and they talk a lot about the differences between Geelong and Carlton). Another year like this and personally I could see Carlton being open to finding another home for him. He's never built up a fitness base to get further up the field and is far too quiet far too often for someone with his talent.
