Fev's back at Blues: Round one pre-match to feature former champ

Quote:
CARLTON will officially welcome Brendan Fevola back into the fold as part of its pre-game celebrations ahead of its round one clash with Richmond at the MCG next Thursday night.

...

The two-time Coleman medallist will be the first inductee into the 'Carlton Ring of Honour', which will celebrate a club cult hero at each home game.

The Blues' pre-game celebrations will also feature club mascot Captain Carlton and his new-and-improved hovercraft, a LED light show, fireworks and pyrotechnics.

Carlton will also set up a 'Heatley End' in and around the cheer squad at the Punt Road end in an attempt to recapture the old atmosphere at Princes Park home games. Free Carlton flags will be given to Blues fans in this area.

...

Ticket sales for Thursday night's game are up 28 per cent on when Carlton last hosted Richmond in round one two years ago, when a crowd of 80,671 attended the MCG.

This could either go really well, or really badly. See Denzel Washington's character in Flight for reference.

There's only one true Ring of Honor and it's in Texas.

There's been no change regarding board members being accountable to members.

I can't believe they thought trying to exactly replicate the 90s was a good plan

3 GFs. I'll take that atm.

The hovercraft with Capn Carlton is a pisser. What a throwback.
Get the peanut man going and the baked potatoes under the Elliot Stand, play "Hot, hot, hot" before the game and get that taped footage of the crowd cheering a goal that the Elliot Stand screen had and we will be cooking with gas.

It's great to see the club trying ideas to re-engage the fans. Some of the initiatives may fall flat but I applaud their intent.

Ripping off other club's ideas/names aside, I agree.

I like the idea, but not really sure the Heatley Stand at the Punt rd end works when playing Richmond.
Captain Carlton and the hovercraft are embarrassing.

Not for the kiddies it's not.

Fair point. I just think we could do better.

Pretty sure the song's on the rider for the guy who drives the hovercraft. That and anything from Gloria Estefan

Great initiative by the club to introduce an area at our home games at the MCG for Carlton supporters.
When booking tickets a Carlton barcode will allow you to chose the Heatley end as the option, or if you are not a member you can enter the word Heatley and it gives the option to get tickets in the Southern Stand located close to the cheersquad.
I only wish i had known about this earlier as i booked tickets for my daughter early in the week and the only area available was in the Ponsford stand near the Richmond cheersquad.

I like our efforts in this regard, new CEO has been a breath of fresh air.
