Pelchen said on 3aw that he was approached by Carlton 6 or 7 weeks ago...

HS said yesterday we categorically declared Pelchen will not be @ Carlton.

Who knows though - there was no quote.

Obviously we decided he wasn't for us. Solid decision.

If we got Pelchen you just know he would trade Hendo because he's too old for Pelchen and out of contract next year.

Malthouse joined the club at the end of 2012. In the 2 years since there are only 17 players left at the club from the primary list of 38 that he inherited.

Walker
Murphy
Gibbs
Judd
Simpson
Buckley
Kreuzer
Watson
Warnock
Yarran
Rowe
Henderson
Armfield
Jamieson
White
Carrazzo
Ellard

There are 4 Rookie players still at the club who were elevated at the end of that season

Bell
Curnow
Casboult
Tuohy

Since 2012 it has been goodbye to

Russell
Lucas
Robinson
McLean
Laidler
Collins
Bower
Betts
Bootsma
Hampson
McCarthy
Mitchell
McInnes
Scotland
Waite
Davies
Thorton
Duigan
Kerr
Garlett
Joseph

Temay has come and gone as have some other rookies.

You would imagine that 2015 could also see the end of Judd, Carrazzo, Armfield, Warnock, Watson and possibly Ellard

This is similar to what Malthouse did at the Filth in 1999 and he made it to GFs in 2002 and 2003. The list has now been pared back to a core group of players who can play.

2 years is a long time in Footy and 3 is a generation.

That's a good summary, heading in the right direction at last.

No need for Pelchen he is two years too late, the jobs done.

After next season we will be where the doggies are with a few more retirements and cuts. Club will be lost in the wilderness for next 10-15 years.

Well done Mick

....yet we'd be further up shit creek keeping the hacks we cut on the list!
We'd be in the exact same position, just 2 years behind.

Great assessment darknavy.

What a shift.

Especially I light of the lack of change I that trade period when he took over.

good that we are removing players that are not good enough, now with our new recruiters we better get this year changes correct and draft some good kids (have we learned anything from the past).

My take on what will happen with uncontracted players end of 2015:

Wood - Will only stay if knockers is cut.
Warnock - Will only stay if Wood is cut.
Kreuzer - Keep, if he's fit and returns to his previous form.
Judd - Retired
Holman - Gone.
Cripps - Keep.
Carrazzo - Retired.
Giles - Keep.
Watson - Gone.
Henderson - Keep.
Johnson - Gone.
Byrne - NFI, don't know much about him.
Sheehan - Keep (assuming he continues to improve this year and plays regular AFL)
Ellard - Gone
Everitt - Keep.
Docherty - Keep.
Armfield - Gone.

With Judd and Carrots gone, I hope we can make a play for a FA like Dangerfield.

Priority re-signings are Henderson, Docherty, Kreuzer, Cripps and Everitt. This is assuming that Docherty and Everitt signed 2 year deals when they were traded last year.

Everitt has an option if a 3rd (according to an interview with him in The Age earlier this year). I reckon Doc got 3 too. We gave Jaksch & Jones 3 so why not Doc?
