We as a society have lost the plot in understanding what is acceptable and young people haven't a flower clue on how to really communicate with other people

People do dumb things in their lives. That's a given. Leave the kid alone to get on with his life. I'm sure losing your job and being on the front and back page for a few days, plus leading the news in every media output known to man is punishment enough. He was a fool. Not pointless at all
The kids that you recruit probably get their first phone when their 11 and consequently miss out on so much. So for someone in your position my post is relevant.

I guess given your position you would know in regards to communication between fellow humans what percentage is body language and tone of voice.

There are near on 800 players at AFL clubs. I would suspect 95% have facebook, twitter etc. So 1 out of 800 mucks up. That would be about the same percentage in every work area around the world that will muck up doing something stupid every day. It is just the world we live in.

They are all educated by the AFL about the pitfalls of Social Media, drugs, alcohol, sexual misconduct etc from the moment they are in the U16 system. Sadly some just don't listen and pay the price.

Yes he'll have to deal with the consequences and rightly so.

It raises the question are players protected too much from 'consequences' ?
Is the bubble too protective ?

..rexy, it certainly is.. .because ppl keep on focusing on him, he has to live with the consequences, yadda yadda.. ...but what about the gf, ready to have his baby.. ..she has to live with the consequences as well, as will the baby.. ..or everyone else he harassed..
