We were 4th on the ladder as of Round 21 in 2011. It was a great year and Murphy contributed to our success immensely. Two big injuries in 2012 and 2013 really knocked him about.

Murphy is going it alone this year but is getting assistance from team mates that hasnt been given in the last decade, or 2011?

nah, better structures and strategies around stoppages this year. We are releasing players, blocking players and guys actually look like they're working to a plan and knowing what they're meant to be doing. The kind I haven't seen in a decade plus.

In 2011, we were just running it right down our opposition's throat, using the corridor and playing commitment free football because we had the cattle to do it. The other team's key tagger went to Judd (who just outrun and outworked them to still be effective) and Murphy was given free reign. There's a big difference. imo

If you like, Murphy in 2014 is playing the Judd role of 2011.

Sounds like Dean Laidley is having some influence.

Helps having a designated midfield coach this year :banghead:
