According to his scenario, Carlton get pick 4 for losing Gibbs and they have 600k spare cash to chase a free agent.
Unless I'm mistaken, the Gibbs compensation would be cancelled out by acquiring a free agent.

But wouldn't we have the 5-600k Gibbs is currently on, wiped off our salary cap? As well as pick 3 & 4 (depending where we finish) ..?

*edit: meaning we shouldn't spend Gibb's salary this rebuidling offseason (it'd achieve little, and be worth more to have the draft pick than the FA, imo), but save the money for a 2016 FA.

Police are hunting three AFL football fans who attacked and seriously injured a schoolteacher after a match at the MCG while bystanders filmed the bashing on their phones.

Now the problem is that if they're found they'll get charged with affray, fined and given suspended sentence, or even let off.

I'd give them 5 years, and do that a few times, and that would stop it pretty quickly I reckon.

Society is a bit like Carlton. Shoulda dropped Fev to the reserves for 15 weeks in the early 2000s. Might've still had a champ, but one with some discipline.

This is the fight i saw as i was trying to get to Jolimont station, (i mentioned in an earlier post). I saw the 3 guys run off and the victim had blood pouring from his nose. Some one did help him. I dont think i would recognize any of them. Not a pleasant thing to witness, there were plenty of families around at the time.

Yes, we would save the $550,000 or whatever he is on now for next season. But we couldnt chase a free agent this year or we lose the compo pick. Clubs still have to pay a certain % of the salary cap and if Judd retires too then who do we pay this money to?

Some very fortunate footballers may end up with pay rises.

Prepay players. It's what the Saints are doing. They're bringing forward some payments so they pay the minimum cap this year and will go shopping next year.

..hendo extended his contract by two years at 400p.a, sign him up with the free cash.. ..but I doubt gibbs will leave, so we will use the retirements of older players to pay hendo..

If the AFLPA have their way Hendo will be a free agent next year. Given he is only on 400ish he'd probably be unrestricted. Sign him again asap.
