I think you'll find that the comments we made after we picked him was that we "rated him as a top ten" and "he fell to us.

You would be crying if we had traded pick 12 to see Lucas end up at Adelaide with pick 13. Pointless to find pleasure in complaining about everything. Just like your fascination with Carlton missing out on Jordan "I can't believe Geelong rated this superstar lower than two KPP" Murdoch. Murdoch mustn't be that good if Hughes rated him.

Am I right?

Like Mr Miyagi told John Kreese:

"You have facts all mixed up".

9 top 10 draft picks
7 of them top 5
If he cant do something with them then he is not the coach we think he is

You are obviously presuming that they were well considered, high quality picks. I suspect that many on this forum share my doubts. Kane Lukas ???? Don't blame the coach for crap recruiting. Blame him for keeping the same crap recruiters if the selections during his tenure are as bad as the previous coach endured. The jury is still out on a few of those. Blame him for not grabbing the best recruiter in the business (Matthew Rendell - in my opinion) before Collingwood snapped him up. Blame him for not grabbing the best available assistant coach (Nathan Bassett - in my opinion) at the end of last season, before Essendon** snapped him up. But don't blame him for the poor decisions made by others before he arrived.

Agreed, too reactive in almost everything we do including recruiting. That is also less than half the side that is picked each week, what have we got as 'support'? Malthouse can do the best he can with what he has at his disposal but that doesn't mean he's empowered enough to improve the list.

Conversation with one of the umpires who looked after Fridays game was a little disappointing. Thought the blues were very ordinary and in for a tough year.

Seems to be consistent with a general theme and gut sentiment of mediocrity

This seems to be an overiding theme in the footy world.

The playing group, let alone the club, has not got the respect of the footy world.
A bit embarrassing when you consider the Carlton I grew up barracking for.

They have to stand up. They must earn respect.
If they don't then they are what people say...an introverted bunch of mediocre footballers.

I must admit, I have seen some good signs from individuals, but the real focus for me is going to be what MM can muster from this group. I just hope it isnt that long bomb week in week out, and there's some cohesion amongst the group as they work the ball along each line.
