That first Essendon* loss, was the most painful by a long long way. Watch the game, the Dons were gone, the coaches were helpless. We should have one. Simple. I replayed that game in my mind for days!

We lacked the composure, we were not strong enough, this is why we lost to the dons second time. They were in our heads and the dons always believe against us. Gives me the shits.

Amazing that in last 2 weeks the thing that held us back. Mental strength in the face of adversity, has been our strength.

Although not the worst feeling loss, pies second loss was the worst performance.

Of course it might be a good thing that we didn't win one more game, meet the filth in round one of the finals and possibly be now out of it!

Not sure what category to put this in but the Hawthorn game was our best loss. Geez i was pissed off after this game. If not for some shocking umpiring and a little bit of composure it would have been our best win. Definitely our most consistent/4qrt` game imo.

After both Essendon* games I felt like throwing the remote control through the tv screen. In the end letting Hird look like a hero in his final game in charge made it almost the lowest point of my Carlton supporting life (the 1993 Grand Final is the worst by the way). Did our players have no pride? It's sickening just thinking about it.

The first St Kilda game was the worst "result" in terms of quality of opposition - though there were mitigating circumstances (early injuries) on the night.

The second Collingwood game was the worst performance and certainly one of the most bizarre in recent times - we went down completely without a whimper after leading by 28 points not long before quarter-time. Malthouse did not excuse the performance but made reference after this game to the loss to Sydney loss on the heavy SCG track the week preceding - I think this might have some credence given that the manner of the defeat was completely out of whack with any other suffered over the course of the season. Whatever the case, the lack of any kind of resistance was frightening and it was clearly the worst performance of the season.

The Essendon* losses were the most galling - the first one in particular for mine as it was our first serious test after a relatively "easy" stretch, against a major rival and after establishing almost complete control of the game, we contrived to throw it away. The second loss wasn't much fun either, but with our egregious inaccuracy, had that "one of those nights" feel about it for much of the night. It was also tempered for mine by the knowledge that the loss could and would ultimately prove meaningless because of the sanctions that were about to be inflicted upon Essendon* and the fact that we would likely be the beneficiary of their unscrupulousness.

The best opposition performance against us was by Fremantle. They were very impressive and it never felt like we were as close as the scoreboard suggested for much of the game. That they broke away in the end for a comfortable victory ensured a fair reflection of the gap between the two sides on the night.

First Essendon* loss or second Collingwood loss. Or first St Kilda loss. Wow, so many options.

Every loss is shit.

Didn't seem to happen when I was a kid.

I must have a short memory, I voted Round 22 our worst loss and Round 23 our best win.

Round 22 was just soul destroying. I've never been so angry with our club and its players.
