Let's talk reality, we have gone backwards under mickey mouse. Not only that, players have gone backwards in development under him.
Only a couple have improved, this was worse than the gold coast loss last year, I'm suspending my AFL membership next season and expect our membership numbers to fall until he's gone. You can blame the board, president and the boot studder but malthouse makes the on field decisions and they have been shit from day 1

Will we ever reach those lofty Elimination Final heights again?
(Good post Molly BTW)

The effort against Sydney was hardly frail, nor against West Coast a year later.

Look I don't know this for sure (but then neither do you), but for arguments sakes - and let me play devils advocate here - lets assume the reality is the list was felt to have hit their ceiling with fifth and Mick (and the club) thinks the list is too soft and too front runnig and so needs to develop a more defensive edge to go forward, and that's why we are playing Simpson down back and are playing more defensive in many other ways (young mids used as taggers, more defensive game plan) BUT the players, not all but a significant amount, are struggling with this change.

Where does that leave us? Abandon the plan or overhaul the list to find cattle that will toe the line?

I'm not in the inner sanctum so I don't know what's going on but I suspect it's something along these lines

so you think the coach [REDACTED] up the club?
like he just walked in and took over?
he is destrying it from top to bottom.. and noone can stand in his way?
he busted into the main office and did his own contract.. signed it.. witnessed it and writes his own cheques?
you sure it has nothing to do with the president and the board ya????

oh ok.....

Look you might not like him.. you might think hes crap.. and you have every right... but you cant pin the blame on him..

you cant pin it on injuries last year.....

its exactly a carbon copy of how the club was 10 years ago.......

shit organisation
terrible list management
and rationalising situations making excuses.

if you want to point your venom.. point it at sticks and the board...

anyone with half a brain would..!!!

and then work your way down to mick!!!.... but dont miss anyone along the way...

there really is a sense of whats going on at Essendon* .. here at carlton isnt it???

stand by your man...!!!

yeah and Essendon* is [REDACTED]!!!.. but so is carlton!!!... theyre more [REDACTED]..!!!.. only for now!!!

I recommend to watch MM post match. He knows where we are at. The positive thing is that it is now clear where we are at and that things have to change - no way can this be hidden any longer. I still believ that MM is a good coach and that he will improve things given we get the right cattle.

Rome was not build in a day and I find people are naive when they expect the quick success due to change of coach. The challenge is to take the learnings and make the right decisions list management and development wise. Priority should be given to get someone with some mongrel and leadership.

I just wish - and that is an area MM might not be adventurous enough - to play more "kids". Graham and Bell should be in for the rest of the year. Laidler a chance to prove himself. Etc.

I would say that giving MM a free pass might also be blinkered.

Ratten had to go but this guy has been a major let down.

It's going to be tough as the FA list is threadbare

We arguably need to start over. Fortunately we have some semblance of a decent youngish list in place. But we need to add about 10 players and that will take time to do and take time to develop the draftees.

It will take 3-5 years minimum now

Whose giving him a free pass?

I said be needs to take some heat for this loss and the players looking flat

But if you can't see the bigger picture then I can't help you

Look at the list

The fact this list have never done better than fifth

It's common sense really

How many players are either unskilled or soft? It's half the list !

100%

What about that crap at the 31 min mark of the 3 qrt when Cooney handballed forward from stoppage for Dogs player to kick easy goal. Bloody hell, how many times can this happen?

Eight seconds to go when he kicked that
Eight seconds! FFS

Micks words re Mitch Robinson this week were telling I thought

Something about he will be a better player when he understands what I want and there's more to footy than being at the bottom of packs

To all the nervous nellies who are jumping on a 30 odd year and recent premiership coach inside his first year when he was unable to change the list due to salary cap restraints I can tell you you might as well stop following the blues for the next few years bec the club aren't about to back track on their MM appointment and if my Coll mates are right , which I have no doubt they are, the reality is Mick is all my-way-or-the-highway so I have a sneaky suspicion Mick will change things up and will stick to his plan so if you and certain players don't like it then that's your bad luck

BTW - I went to the post match function. Lots of people and they behaved well and the players were very good interacting (just took too long for them to appear - it was about 8.10 PM). Had a chat with Watson - don't think he'll be back this year. Sticks was apologetic and devastated - he might finally have understood that a new coach alone wont deliver success. People still love him - they dont get it that he would be a great host at functions etc but does not have the skills to be a president.

It was a nice touch to have the 87 and 95 cups there available for anyone to be photographed with. My son also got "selfies" with nearly all players plus a bit of a chat with most of them - it helped him cheering up.

I had written off the season after last week and spent the time more studying our players. Seems clear to me that the fitness area has issues - lack of speed, power and durability. We really need to improve this. We were run over and out-muscled by a team full of kids...

The game was lost at the selection table.

Three midfield/running types out and ZERO in......Then what happens if one extra goes down? which happened today with Judd.

Rowe should have been dropped for Waite, Graham should have played and Lucas should have stayed in.

Just like the St Kilda game at the start of the year with 3 rucks playing. You make it very hard for yourself with those selections.

The selection Committee is: Sticks Swan Malthouse Wiley and McKay

That says everything.....

Walker is soft and poor one on one so shouldn't be a defender

Touhy is lax so not a defender either

Both have very likeable offensive flair

We have very few natural quality defenders, that's why they play Bootsma bec the kid has something
