Agree Mr Synners thats why you are my campaign manager for the board later in the year - I see you as a Svengali figure a latter day Richo (of the ALP variety)

We need to have a "circle of trust"

how dare you people waste $50,000 of club money on an election !!!

elections and a democratic process is money this club cant afford.. cos were not capable of raising $50 ,000 to give this club a feel of democratic dues.

Anyway.. my political mentor Plato didnt b elieve in a "Democracy" he believed Democracy ... and that the kratos (the state) would fall into a state of uncontrolled euphoria unchecked for the sake of popularism... or would be a popular guy who would go in as a saviour but end up a dick... and then ultimately turn into a tyranny... (Plenty of examples of this kind of thing in history...)
He beieved a leader should be philosophical.. wise.. caring for his people..ruling justly..and his mentor Socrates called 'O Politikos' a statesman..

Basically a special person who does not have his own interests at heart but that of the state

Someone who is the most competent..

Is that Sticks???

Tyrant Elliot.. followed by a coup from the people with a democratic process... euphoic new beginning...
Populist comes in ... he is here to protect us.. becomes a tyrant himself.... but not wise and looking for the interests of the club... but for what Surrey calls the "circle of trust" among his mates who rule it with an iron fist... but not wisely!!!

We need a wise head to step in.....

Thats not the group of people we have currently.. theyre doing this for themselves number 1.. and they lack the wisedom and cant connect with the people...because they are askew and are doing this for themselves!!!

We now have an Oligarchy of the club being ruled by the few and not in the interests of the clubs supporters...

in case youre wondering what is an Oligarchy and why i thin we are one today... therefore a disconnect with the people ....

here is a basic description of whats going on at the club right now....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oligarchy

We also dont get taught Plato and Socrates anymore.. because it teaches us how to recognise what govts are doing.

Were taught we live in a democracy.....

There is no room for people thinking too much in our set up.....

Carlton is a fully bllown Oligarchy.....make no mistake!!!...

"Philanthropy is fun"

What would we do without the Pratt money?

shhhhhhhh dont upset the Pratts Mathiesons etc... we need them... dont rock the boat....!!!
We cant survive as a fit and vibrant club without "Philanthropy is fun"...!!!

This club is pathetic... we deserve the leaders we have had because we allow them.....

Some rich dude tips the change from his back pocket into the club to keep it afloat therefre controlling it.......the club just needs their money because its poorly run(Sticks and themselves)... but having the club poorly run means as long as rich benefactors keep tippin g in we rely them to control this club...

they certainly can find the money when they need it.. but we go on broke.. staggering around flip flopping .. pathetic .. weak and mediocre!!!

Classic tactics...!!!

Oh but they have a circle of trust....

Well FWIW, I appreciated at least the effort the club has gone to in putting this out. At least someone in the place recognized that some sort of message was probably warranted at this point of the season, all things considered. So kudos there.

I think that if we're going to get into blame game exercises here, Malthouse would be on the lower levels of my list. There has clearly been a long term failure to;

- appropriately navigate the list management landscape, particularly with regards to Free Agency, trading with expansion clubs etc
- appropriately assess our own list and where it stood in the pecking order of AFL clubs
- make hard decisions on key personnel (playing and otherwise)

To my knowledge we don't have a dedicated list manager. Hence I am not surprised we have been left flat footed and sitting on 100% cap space (or close enough) while mid table. It's the worst possible place a club can be in a competition with a draft and salary cap. You generally arrive at that position after multiple years of incompetence and poor decision making.

I will judge Mick at the end of next year. I believe his hands were sufficiently tied last offseason. Getting Cloke in for $1m and having to jettison players for paltry draft picks is one thing (plus that was pre-Judd deal un-ravelling if I am not mistaken). Not getting Cloke and then trying to get 'fair' value for players on high salaries is an entirely different matter. Fans could accept players leaving for nix if there's a clear reason why (i.e. hello Travis). Fans would go absolutely apeshit if Simmo got traded for a third rounder, i.e. nothing to replace him sufficiently on field.

The brutality of calls on players this year will tell the tale. I think and hope the number of departures will be limited only by our capacity to replace them.

And a final point relating to brutality of calls. Why the @#$%&! is Wayne Hughes still at this club. I don't give a stuff who's running the show that isn't him, it is not the right message that he is still there after presiding over a sustained period of drafting ineptitude. Symptomatic of this club not being brutal where it counts. the guy didn't do his job well enough - I don't care how a nice a bloke he is. He shouldn't be at the club any more. What's he doing having an influence in recruiting decisions in any way - considering the rubbish the club is about to jettison this offseason is largely of his creating.

Should get another apology from the club soon after choosing Guido Hatzis as a way to celebrate multicultural round.

We are a joke.
