our list is unbalanced , we have numerous over rated players and we have severely lacked any kind of development program over the past 5 years.
its no co-incidence that we are seeing players blossom this year that most would have happily written off under the past coaching regime

Agree. That 1 win put us - in recent history - equalling the achievements of Fremantle, still a step behind the Bulldogs, and two steps behind what St Kilda has done. Clubs we all associate with being perennial losers, and hardly the bench mark you'd be aiming for.
I know it's been done to death but we didn't beat a Top 4 side for the year, and finishing 5th didn't give us some automatic right (because We are Carlton.....) to then think that the next step would automatically be to start mixing it with the likes of Geelong, Sydney, Hawthorn and Collingwood.
Difference between finishing 10th and 5th can be minimal, 5th to 1st enormous.
