Few whispers that Gibbs will be the sub.
We did that with Betts after his last lay off.
Match fitness is important as is having Gibbs for the rest of the season. If they dont think they will get 80 mins out of him then so be it.
..there is always the chance of a 1st Q injury however.. ..you ought not to play someone as a sub if they can't run out a game.. ..if they're not totally over their injury you can overwork them.. ..if it's about getting minutes and run into their legs, time manage them in the ressies.. ..can't afford these games in the seniors..
So who would you bring in as sub? If chosen to be sub we would be our best option as sub. There is no better outside the teams.
You can comfortably say the sub will play 3qtrs in close to the worse case. Then can have his minutes limited from there.
If someone goes down in the first minute you could get stung but that there is the very small gamble of playing a slightly underdone player as sub.
..the sub still needs to be capable of playing a full 4 Quarter effort, of high intensity.. .... ..if a player [any player] needs their time managed, do it in ressies.. ..it's not about which is the next best player to bring in out of who's left over.. ..or rather, it's not who has best ability.. ..its who can best impact..
..Gibbs is coming back after a hammy, 3 weeks later.. ..3 weeks is borderline for touch/fitness.. ..it's not as if he's been training hard and playing ressies to keep fitness and touch right..
