Please watch this post match press conference.

I honestly think its the best one ive ever seen.

They both look fresh and happy and relieved.

Also loved seeing Murphy show some personality.

Sounds as though Malthouse had a say in surprising the milestone players with their families and "family" back into the club.

Could be the start of a culture shift that we have been needing for some time

keen for other thoughts on the conference

It somehow adds to Malthouse that he doesn`t know certain stats( e.g. Waite`s goal tally). Bit awkward the introduction of Murph.

Surely this day and age they could have the journo's properly miked up to hear what they are asking.

Bit like a version of Jeopardy

..watching the interview, a thought struck me.. ..did the ol' Malty per chance coach John Murphy..?.... ..from memory John Murphy played a year [or two?] at the dawgs, was that when MM was coaching them..?.. ..and if yes, would the Malty be the first coach to coach a father and a son..??..

I think John Murphy played at North and South after leaving Fitzroy, but not the Dogs.
In any case, think he retired when Mick was still playing.
And no, that wouldn't have made him the first coach to coach a father and a son. Sheedy coached Tim and Jobe Watson, and both Merv and Jay Neagle.

John Murphy played at Fitzroy, South Melbourne & North Melbourne, he never played for Footscray.

They would have played against each other as Mick's playing career at St Kilda and Richmond spanned from 1972 to 1983 and John Murphy's spanned 1967 to 1980.

Sheedy coached both Tim and Jobe didn't he.

There are a number of Geelong players who played with Ablett Snr and Jnr. I dont think either Ayers or Thompson coached both though.
