I reckon that 11 of Geelong's 18 goals were kicked mid-to-late of each quarter, without goal reply from Carlton.
These 'late' run-on goals are costing Carlton dearly, especially when the Blues are enjoying an early-to-mid quarter dominance.
Does this trend have any history?
Can someone check if it happened when the Blues played in the first two rounds, against Richmond and Collingwood....

At the fifteen minute mark of a quarter add four goals to the oppositions total is the rule of thumb for me.

We look great for the first 15 minutes though.

Maybe we can lobby the AFL to play 8 10 minutes eighths....

Well I'm having a few health/stress type issues so I've stopped watching the game live.
I record it, find out the score then watch it. Much less stressful.

Anyway, sometimes my resolve weakens. Saturday night I turned on the tele
twice. Once to catch the last five minutes of the first quarter and once more to
catch the last five minutes of the second quarter.

Flower me -- there's another five years off my life right there!!

Surely they must be fit enough.
(and I know your name's not Surely).

I could also be this game plan of having 18 players run up and down a footy field until they are !@#$%^&.

    Defend then break.
    Then turn over.
Then get scored on through the corridor or opposite open wing.

That is until we have no energy to defend or attack again.

..gameplan is fine, fitness is fine.. ..problem is players across half forward.. ..we keep breaking down in this area, and it saps too much energy..

This is the scoring done in the last 7-8 minutes of each quarter in the
    first three games...

    Code:
Qtr    Carl  Rich Carl  Coll   Carl  Geel
    1       0-2   2-3   0-0   2-1   1-0   4-1
    2       1-0   3-2   2-0   0-1   1-1   4-1
    3       1-0   2-3   1-2   2-0   0-1   3-0
    4       1-3   0-2   1-0   3-1   0-2   1-1

It certainly indicates that something is not right

Without looking into the stats deeper, I would say scoring across the league has increased, more spurts of scoring by both teams at various stages of matches.
