Thanks for the memories Kouta, you have been my all time favourite Carlton player.

I have never seen a player dominate like you did in 2000 and it was so dissappointing to see you cut down with two knee reconstructions in your prime.

Anthony Koutoufides - thank you.

I never really marvelled at what you could do on the football field until I look back on those famous games and just look in awe as you took control of each game with your sublime skills.

We as supporters I think at times do not realise the legacy that you have left or the talent that you possessed until it was time that you eventually had to retire.

It is unfortunate that you have had to hang up the boots but you have made the decision when the time was right - you have not been holding on to any false hope.

I look forward in the years to come when my niece's and perhaps, my own children ask how great you were on the football field. Much like I ask my parents how great John Nicholls, Alex Jesaulenko and other past greats were.

All the best in your retirement and thanks for the memories!

In an earlier post I expressed my opinion of Kouta as probably the best player I have ever seen but after watching the Footy Show I must confess to having more than a lump in the throat as I realised I would never again see his magic on the field.

His performance on the show was so humble and he was even gracious when that knob/buffoon Sam Newman made a travesty of part of his appearance -- can that man never say anything sensible or appropriate.

There was a mention in an earlier post of a compilation DVD of Kouta highlights. Does anyone know if one is available and if so how can I purchase one please.

Fare thee well Kouta you were the best

It should be happening now, according to 3LO's pre-match.

Tears were shed up in the stands today.

I thought the guard of honour by our players and officials was a great touch.

I was at the game and there was (mostly) a standing ovation for him where I was sitting. And watching the news, his daughter seemed more emotional than the man himself. I wonder if showing him you're a Carlton supporter will get you a free souvlaki? 8)

Kouta - You were Carlton for me, a truely magic player, sadly injured in your prime. I will miss you big fella.

One memory I have, is sitting in the Port Pirrie FC watching the 2001 Adelaide v Carlton final at the G. I remember someone from channel 7 and their teleprompter drawing circles around matchups and you never having anyone near you as you tore through the crows that day. I was magic because I was the only one not going for the crows.

Good by and thank you Kuota

I have never seen ANY player able to dominate a game like Kouta could.
When you think about his dominance, don't just think about 2000, think of games like the one against WCE with 18 marks.
Let's not forget that he put in a good game in the 95 GF as well.
An absolute champion.

The career highlights on screen during his lap of honour really showcased what a freak he was.

Kouta's back!

http://www.bendigoadvertiser.com.au/sto ... ook/?cs=12

Strutting his stuff at Carisbook (near Maryborough) and Darley (near Bacchus Marsh) over the next couple of months. And if you're in the vicinity this Saturday night and you have a primary schooler in tow, Kouta is running a half-hour clinic starting at 5.20pm. Knowing Anthony - plenty of opportunities for photos as well.
