One of the greatest ever Carlton players........

Wouldn't it have been incredible though; if we could've got him from Sandringham as an 18yo. kid as West Coast did?

Congrats Chris.
I hope you play another 100 for us.
You are a thoroughbred.

On a lighter note can report that now Oscar Judd is eligible to play for Carlton under the Father/Son rule. Mother Bec's has posted on Instagram that Oscar who is barely 1 year old is wearing 3 year old shoes- so draft day 2029 is looking promising.

Last night's game pretty much summed up his time at Carlton.

The day he announced that he had chosen Carlton over everyone else and especially over Collingwood was one of the truly great days. It was exhilarating. My wife says I have football bipolar disorder but that day was seriously mood altering.

I remember going to the gym that night wearing my Carlton jumper (middle aged men in sleeveless football jumpers are never a good look), but as I walked in at peak hour I was besieged by fellow Carlton supporters I hardly knew with cheers and high fives and shouts of one word "Juddy!" It was easy to spot who were the Collingwood and Essendon* supporters on their exercise bikes cursing and scowling under their collective breath.

That day was a truly stupendous day, as was the day he officially signed and the trades were certified with WC.

Hope is everything in life, and the Judd signing was worth every penny before he had even laced up a boot.

He's been even better than we could have hoped since then, no doubt one of all time greats. When he gets the ball in tight, breaks the shackles, and bursts away bouncing the ball in one of those weaving runs it makes the hairs on your neck stand up. It's such a pity the club and many other players havent been able to stand up and support him in the way he deserves.

The story is not over yet however. Many good teams have bounced back after a disasterous season, and with the right coach and structures and momentum and some luck we may make a surge next year. The fairytale of Juddy holding aloft the premiership cup for the mighty blues on the last day in September would be something to behold.

We love you Juddy.

Judd is an unusual individual for a footballer: not the usual "yeah, nah" type.

When he was at West Coast, there was a pop quiz in the Record interviewing him. One question was "Who would you like to spend one hour with from any person, living or dead?". His reply was Albert Camus, who was a twentieth century French author.

One day I was at training, and as Judd was coming off the field I asked him if it was true, and what Camus book was his favourite? He said it was, and he was inspired by 'The Outsider', which sums up how I perceive Judd in the world of football.

He doesn't strike me as being one of the boys, and Ratten seems like a puppy dog craving his attention during interviews.

No doubt we've been lucky to have him, and we'll be even more fortunate if he stays on at the club after his playing career is finished.

He was from the Absurdist movement, so that absolutely makes sense at the club right now.

"mother died today"....yep, remember that book. about being judged by society for your perceived feelings. A lot like what happened to Lindy Chamberlain really.

Juddy has been immense but instead of growing a team around him, he just is the team.

On a lighter note - as I couldnt find anywhere else to put it.

Only 17 years to go till Oscar is eligible for Father/Son.

 Happy First Birthday Oscar Judd.
