Ablett Jnr gets tagged every week but keeps racking up 40+ possession games

Ablett's a great footballer and I'd be happy to have him at Carlton but if you take the one-two handballs out of it his 40 possession games are more like 25.

That 'one two' was Ben cousins' favourite as well. I think the difference between the two is that Judd still has that initial two to four steps that do all the damage and these need to be curtailed. As a tagger of Crowley's quality, the only chance you have to stop him at times is to risk an illegal hold.

Ablett just dominates through sheer persistence. Totally different physical attributes.

Not much risk is it though - you might get pinged once or twice in a game (if you're unlucky), but are able to dull a player's influence in dozens of other stoppages.
How many stoppages in a game would there be where Judd doesn't have someones hands on each of his hips/around his waist or around his arm?

..especially now, GAJ's disposals will be inflated in number due to his team-mates giving him the ball at every opportunity, even if they could probably do something just as creative/effective with it.. ..he's brilliant, in the accumulator kind of way.. ..Judd's less inclined to rack up easy touches and would rather play more direct footy.. ..because he'll charge forward with ball in hand or kick long, vs loitering for the 'one two' possie,, taggers need to cling on more..

This isn't going to be popular but -

I'm glad "Judd has a plan to beat taggers" because whatever he's doing now isn't working.

How are you judging that kkk?

I think there are a numbers of factors including how the coaches and his teammates support him, but I have a feeling part of his plan has been to contribute to freeing teammates up at stoppages and of course he went forward a bit against freo.

The going forward one is a winner. With a bloke hanging off him he can really stretch and manipulate the oppositions shape and defense. He can also use that tactic to set us up forward of the ball.
Probably not as much team advantage in that as what we would get from him onball but if he has a dog of a tagger on him and it doesnt look like he is going to get the freedom to play his usual game he can be used to the teams advantage in different ways.
