The problem isn't eyesight, it's an ability to read the flight of a ball.
There were plenty of players who were having trouble with glare yesterday. Carrazzo for example had a trouble sighting a defensive clearance (as did the North players nearby) and ended up looking to protect his face and junk from a half-volley.
On the read of the flight comment; his eyesight being altered would affect his judgement of the flight. It's not like defogging glass.
