failed businesman?

Hardly.

I was at the cemetery where he is buried recently and was a little disturbed that the family didn't put his 'other' daughter on the headstone (with her siblings). Very disrespectful and shows what a vindictive and ruthless family he headed.

Or am I overreacting?

The Doc is very grumpy lately. Is pretty pissed off with Carlton as a whole.

Ha! No.

Like you, i am a member of a club founded in 1864. However after many years, that club is no longer Carlton.

Much like a few bad experiences on an airline, you make a decision not to fly them anymore. Whether that be due to deteriorating customer service, board direction being taken etc, there comes a point - at least for me - when I say enough is enough.

I love the history, I do love the club. I don't agree with certain things that have happened nor the direction, so I choose not to be a shareholder anymore. When they are back on track as I see fit, I will become a 'member'...for which I will get a cheap-ass hat that I donate to Vinnie's, entry to the ground which I don't need and a 'lanyard' which is a word I try not to use as often as I can.

All sporting clubs need ticket holders/membership of some description, but the approach to it by some AFL clubs leaves a lot to be desired.

Go Williamstown!

A few people around Williamstown leave a lot to be desired as well.

Cop that!

She should be able to raise that sort of dough pretty easily if she does a few interviews and wins 'Hot Seat'.

Pratt had good taste in Footy Clubs and she's not too foul looking.

I wonder what your responses would have been had our laws of the time meant he served lengthy jail time and tougher penalties on his business? In essence, failed businessman, failed husband...(without discussing the philanthropic generosity because those funds are tainted). His achievements are severely diminished, and my opinions are no longer clouded by Carlton parochialism. Like Ned Kelly whom some consider a hero and others a cold-blooded murderer, Pratts legacy will forever have two opposing points of view.

Doc, you sure have a bee in your bonnet lately.
Drawing parallels between Pratt and Ned Kelly is ridicolous.
Get over it.

i think you'll find that's ridiKalous..

ya know what Warbs...
that is annoyingly true. or maybe Fitzroy, then he stopped when they moved to Brisbane.

Of course, Strauss was a Carlton man, what with 'The Blue Danube' and Miles Davis..well, he may have been a bit ambivalent as in 'Kind Of Blue' but we've definitely got Robert Johnson on our side, as everyone knows he was a Blues Man.
So stuff you Neddy. we don't need you anyway.

Oh bg.........you write like Keats or Shelley......Robert Johnson would've loved (as I do) ''Sweet Home Chicago'' by the Blues Brothers (soundtrack).....and Miles Davis is still cooler than cool.

Today....Ned Kelly would've had more tatts than Dane Swan....oh, hang on....impossible?....anyway....

The whole Kelly saga began over a believed persecution by the Victoria Police towards their entire family after a constable's advances towards Kate Kelly were rejected.

With a persecution complex like that, had to follow North Melbourne.
