John Goold called in randomly to KB's show this morning and went on about the Blues chances this week, and in particular that Shaun Hampson should be a shoe into play (his opinion only). Suggested he should be 10 to 1 on to play.

More importantly, it was his enthusiasm for the Blues that was inspiring. As a child, 'Raggsy' - a two times premiership player - was an inspiration for my generation as he dashed off the HBF.

He was pumped this morning and left me pumped.

go raggsy! go blues!

ps play the Hammer....please!

I see a lot of '94 Semi final in this weeks game. Don't be fooled by our outs and their ins. We still have a stable full of champions and hard nuts. Just go through the squad player by player.

We CAN do this and WILL!!

Ah Ragsy, what a player.Elegant off the field, elegant on it.................truely,he was an elegant player if there can be such a thing.Ragsy was a " Toff " for sure, but super courage and tough as teak.Tough in the sense that blokes just loved to belt the " Pansie " .He could absorb heaps of punishment, the hallmark of toughness.

PS...............and agree 100 % re Hampson.........fight fire with fire.

Yeah great post London.

Goold was inspirational.

Imagine Doully on the other HBF and I reckon you have a half back line that would dominate today.

Gooldy would tidy up his disposal just a little bit...

Goold was the original dashing half back flanker. And yes, he was dashing off it as well. He would get a game in any era for his ability to get the footy, take marks and run but as you so rightly point out, his disposal was pretty crap. That was when you could get away with pumping it long and high, or even short and high with the occasional grubbed drop kick because possession wasn't the all-important thing is is today. Getting it away from the danger zone was.

Goold on one flank and Doull on the other? One of them would have to give up the #11
