Congrats to Zac and about time. The improvement in this kid over the past 18 months has been enormous. His kicking is of a high level, he is tough and will fill a role we need filling. I see him as our small tough Back Pocket that will compliment and assist Yarran. I have been waiting for this for a while and I hope he is picked this week!

If he gets a game this week, then who the hell has Armfield upset?

Interesting question.

well they vary.

Box Hill is ginormous 169 x 151m, Visy is same as M.C.G.

as for the others..

Frankston 163 x 123m Scorpions 165m x 135m Preston 169 x 127m Port 165 x 134m

Queen Elizabeth Oval – 168 x 124m North Ballarat 165 x 140m Sandy : 160 x 122m Willy 178 x 137m

Werribee 177 x 125m Geelong 169 x 115m Coburg 169 x 151m Collingwood 160 x 139.2m

anyone know the dimensions of Chiltern or Woorinen i think they are the biggest in Victoria?

I measured Chiltern a long time ago and from memory it's at least 220 metres long

Does he have a hurling back ground or Gaelic football ???
He looks the right shape and size and from all reports he can run and kick

He may go ok = goodluck to him

IIRC Taigh Kennely played his first game against Carlton which Swans won. Could be a good omen!

Smaller SCG ground may help him in that he seems to like running hard and in a straight line

Well done nonetheless

Go Zac!

Agree with NBH, if he gets a game ahead of Army there's something weird going on

..great to see another rookie [especially an international] be good enough to warrant elevation onto the senior list.. ..but, is this a sign that Army's small defender role is being switched to wing/hff..?..

I don't think so.

I love Army, but I think the MC has decided they need to see how certain players go in certain positions EARLY. We've got a heap of mid sized guys who they think can in the backline as runners or even midfield. Army is a known quantity and showed good form in the games he played early but they also want to look at

Lucas, AJ, Ellard, Touhy, Curnow are äll being judged and expect Twomey and a couple more to get a look in also later in the year.

Seems the club are trying to develop Army as a HFF/winger, so I don't see Zac taking Army's spto if he plays HBF

If he plays against Swans he won't be out of place as he is hard as nails (indeed he is the type of player you'd expect to line up for the Swans), and could run n carry off HBF is Yazz doesn't come up

That was obvious very early in the pre season.

We're obviously giving him an extended period with the Ants to develop in the small forward role. It's been very amusing listening to people who haven't woken up to it though.

I do believe RRodent has said as much a number of times.

This. - Sub-rule now means that every player needs to have several strings to his bow. Perhaps the MC doesnt think armfield quite has that yet (and in his defence didnt need to under previous rules) - playing him up forward in the ants allows him to develop/add more to his game without risking team performance. Imo, he will be back in the team before finals.

Congratulations.

Still not sure why we're elevating players if they're not actually going to play seniors. Assuming that Yarran misses a few weeks, I hope Tuohy gets a game next week (ahead of Joseph and Armfield on current form).
