2nd QTR

*Warnock good in the ruck, getting his hands to it
*Interesting situation with Judd-Watson-Hocking. Judd trying to go to Watson to make it a 2 on 1 and free up one of our mids.
*Warnock kicks inside 50 to Waite who is in a one on one but Henderson attempts to mark as well, bringing his opponent with him to make it a two on two and therefore a harder ball to mark. Key forwards lacking cohesion. Henderson appears to be desperate to do something good for the team…almost playing selfish football and trying too hard when he just needs to play a team game. It will come…he is a hard worker and a leader normally, just lacking in confidence.
*JR kicks inside 50 but kicks it out on the full, continuing JR’s poor start to the game.
*Robinson kicks inside 50 but Waite is playing from behind and subsequently gives a free kick away for hands in the back.
*Forwards keep conceding front position.
*Gibbs kicks inside 50 but it is easily spoilt for a behind. Was to a two on one anyway. Problem was the kick gave the forwards little chance – TBB mentioned this in another post….you either make the distance or you kick it 15m out so the crumbers have a chance. Such a wasted inside 50…should be a team rule that you get dragged if you kick it to that spot 5m out where it is easily spoilt and gives no one a chance.
*Once again they move it inside 50 and have one on ones to go to. Midfielders aren’t working hard enough defensively to flood their forward line.
*Good mark Hampson on the last line.
*Henderson has the ball at half back and kicks down the line to Waite who once again tries to take MOTY playing from behind. Waite’s day eventually improves but why did it take until midway through the second quarter before a senior player in Jarrad Waite decided to try to get front position and play a simpler game? The results for Waite are there to see later in the game when he begins to play in front.
*Judd clearance but Hardingham marks > rebound to Fletcher who goals.
*14 minutes left in the second quarter and identify the moment Hellas Blue may be talking about. Ball loose on the southern side and Murphy goes with one hand…tentative approach to the ball. Didn’t notice any other incidents from Murphy where he didn’t go hard enough – on the contrary he went very hard more often than not including a great mark deep in defensive 50 city side late in the game.
*First goal we kick to Garlett as a result of hard work…no system moving it inside 50.
*Robinson kicks inside 50 and it is easily rebounded.
*Kick comes inside 50, Murphy sitting under the ball and should mark but Henderson comes over the top and spoils it. Henderson trying too hard – should have blocked/screened Murphy.
*Carrazzo inside 50 to the fat side to Waite, good kick from Carrots. Waite has a shot from 45m out but doesn’t even make the distance! Spoilt easily about 5m out.
*Inside 50 stoppage, excellent hitout from Warnock straight to Eddie who misses.
*Essendon* kick out, get it to HF and JR leaves Crameri on the ground, goes up to make it a two on one – Crameri crumbs, gives to Zaharakis who goals. JR didn’t need to go up as his teammate had the contest covered. JR’s poor day continues.
*Stoppage at our forward 50…Carrazzo is third man up, ball comes to ground and good tough work from Yarran and Warnock results in goal to Waite who easily makes the distance from 50m. What’s going on Jarrad? Warnock has been excellent.
*Judd gets a handball receive but wastes the inside 50…again it goes to that 5m out position which gives no one a chance.
*Waite has it at half back, kicks to a contest Henderson Vs Hardingham and Hardingham marks easily. Henderson body work poor when normally he can hold his ground. No touch whatsoever.
*Ball comes back inside 50 and results in a goal to Watson.
*Judd gets a centre clearance; kicks inside 50 but Waite playing from behind.
*Waite finally leads up the ground with front position, results in a mark to Collins who should have goaled.
*We are poor defensively at the kickout – they go 65m down the guts. Fortunately apply pressure at CHB to win the ball, results in a Simpson goal.
*Duigan excellent mark in defence against the fraud.
*Henderson marks at HB gets the Bronx cheers from our ‘supporters.’
*Melksham looks like he’ll mark but Yarran makes an excellent spoil. His defensive efforts been very good.
*Murphy takes courageous mark in defence.
*Waite takes front position and marks resulting in a shot on goal to Garlett deep in the pocket – he kicks it out on the full.
*Carrazzo kicks inside 50 to a 3 on 1.

Improvement that quarter through Warnock’s work in the middle as well as Waite starting to take front position. Still look to have very little system moving the ball forward.

3rd QTR

*Yarran kicks well inside 50 but Waite runs slightly under the ball
*Henderson in a marking contest 10m appears tentative
*Yarran has the ball at half forward, with excellent vision he finds Laidler who goals.
*Yarran again weaves past a few, gives to Collins who misses a very gettable goal.
*White excellent in a one on one with Hurley
*Collins drops a mark he should have taken then gets pinged holding the ball.
*Ryder marks and also gets the ironic cheers from the scum fans.
*Warnock excellent mark in defence, and again marks on the last line. Having a great game.
*Robinson poor inside 50 to Waite who is again playing from behind.
*Curnow great opportunist goal as a result of Warnock’s ruckwork.
*Carrazzo has it at HB southern side punt road end; looks to bring it in to the corridor – kicks to Judd who is under massive pressure. Defensive 50 stoppage – Warnock excellent hitout to Judd who gives to Duigan who rebounds from defence.
*We win a tough ball at half back southern side…Carrazzo is the loose man. Runs towards 50, attempts to kick to Hampson. Hardingham sitting on his own in front of Hampson marks easily.
*Jamison has the ball in the back pocket and kicks it to Eddie who is surrounded by four scum! Good luck Eddie! Betts does well to make it a ball up. What was Jamison thinking.
*Curnow wins possession at HB – kicks forward to a two on one where Fletcher has no one near him…ball bounces in front of him and he flicks it across to Heppell…ball is then switched to the other side and Lonergan goals from about 15m out. Two goals now from poor decisions by Curnow.
*At this stage 5 out of their 7 goals have come from us losing possession across half forward.
*White kicks it inside 50 and Hooker shits himself.
*Hampson has front position in a marking contest but is outmarked by Bellchambers. Not good enough.
*Good run from Yarran off HB, kicks to Hendo Vs Fletcher. Yarran comes in and gives the free against Fletcher. Unlucky…he was showing desperation but just got Fletcher high.
*JR very poor in a one on one against Crameri…luckily Crameri misses.
*JR from the point goes over the line…lucky.
*Eventually we win the ball off HB with Judd running towards 50. Siren about to go…Judd gives Warnock no chance, siren goes.

Really dominated that quarter and should have been 3 goals up. A few missed shots and dropped marks inside 50. Warnock was the dominant player in the quarter.

4th QTR

*Yarran inexplicably kicks the ball out off one step. Results in a goal to Jetta.
*Waite plays in front, gets a free which results in Carrazzo kicking a goal.
*Another Carlton goal from Murphy as a result of Waite playing in front. 2 goal assists to Waite in 5 minutes.
*Ball on the wing, Waite misses a tackle on Lovett-Murray after Jamison bombed it from defence to no one. Curnow then can’t hold Hurley; he breaks away, gives to Stanton who goals. Poor tackling costly.
*Murphy and Scotland shallow inside 50s. Hardingham marks Scotlands kick, rebounds easily for a goal to Melksham.
*6 out of 10 goals to them from our forward line.
*Poor inside 50 from Garlett
*Yarran great run to goal
*Warnock great at ground level, unlucky to be pinged…almost got it to Waite.
*JR jumps into Jamison, results in a Hurley shot on goal but he misses.
*Laidler plays on out of bounds.
*Judd’s clearance resulting in the Simpson goal was brilliant.
*Duigan great mark in defence.
*Jamison kicks inside 50 where it’s Hampson one on one. Walker comes over the top and spoils. Walker’s opponent runs off with the ball.
*All know what happened next

Really we were dominant in the third quarter and should have been up by 3 or so goals. Wasted inside 50s and missed shots on goal. A few players in really poor form (Henderson, Collins, JR, Waite for a qtr). Backline, in particular White and Duigan were excellent. White I thought would struggle on a key forward like Hurley but he was excellent.

Haven't managed to see the replay myself yet but read a lot of teeth gnashing and angst ridden posts. Seems to me we didn't play that well as a team and had quite a few players having terrible games, yet we still managed a draw with the 'form' team of the year (that's scacarsm in quotes for those who missed it

Seems like there is a lot of upside to our team for the rest of the year and we are well placed, can the bummers improve anymore? (that's a rhetorical question for those who missed it).
