Ratten last night highlighted that our scores against had reduced this year to 90 points.
He then mentioned the Grand Final scores were 68. He said that's where we need to get to.
In keeping with this thread; I'm upset he didn't say we'd aim for 67.
FFS.
Listen to his whole speech.

Where are our next gen of champions?

Why aren't they developing sufficiently after 100-150 games?

Yes, we should be aiming top 4 at the end of the home and away - but to get there, Ratts and the coaches are going to have to work bloody hard in the next 11 months.

It IS possible, but they'll have to make some serious changes.

Totally agree. Thinking the exact same thing. Judd is carrying this club. Development still an issue. Rather than look at positions in the B&F, have a look at the percentage disparity bw Judd and others.

Pheeuww  I wasn't expecting anyone to agree  .

Take Judd from the club and we are left with a massive hole. We need to plug it NOW. Maybe we need to give the captaincy to Murphy or Gibbs or Simmo. Maybe (and I can't believe I'm saying this) co-captains :yikes: .

If Judd missed half a season we would have been lucky to finish 11th.

imo ... *puts neck out there*

the stage is set

ratten has done everything right ... to date

he has taken us from 16th to 2 finals in a row

we are no longer a walk over team - we have taken some big scalps over the last 2 seasons

we have 'cut the fat' - so to speak - delisted all the cloggers (still a few more this season and we're done)

this season was massive damage control after loosing stevo and mainly fev

fev was our forward line for 10 odd years and structurely we had to change

ratten & co. have no more excuses. not age. not experience. not 'no fev'

carlton should be the most improved side of 2011 after recruiting the missing couple of links

string 3-4 games together and id be satisfied with nothing less than a prelim

judge ratts on next year cos hes done alright so far

I would've thought the Dogs and Cats were cherry ripe for the picking next year if we're good enough.

SO Murph, Gibbs, Bower and MK didn't improve much for varying reasons icluding a lot of injuries. I thought Murph's attack on the pill was his career best the last few rounds.

Hard to argue with the development of JR,Garlett,Jacobs,Hendo,Warnock,Yarran,Army.
Hoops was playing his role well till he went down.

Next year

Pies - Top 2
Saints - Some '?' over their strength as an aging and thin list but should be top 4
Cats, Dogs - major question marks - definite chance to slide
Freo - 4-6
Syd - 6-8
Hawthorn - Who the flower knows
Melbourne - Top 8 surely
Crows, North etc could pop up.

Every chance to be top 4 if the football dept know what they're doing. That should be the aim. Our core is now 22-27 years old - Judd Simmo Waite Russell Murph Gibbs Walker Carrazzo Grigg Russell Betts Warnock Bower Jamo Mclean Army. A few really good kids in Kreuzer, Garlett, Hendo, Yarran, Lucas.

We should be ready for the next step in 2011. That means maturity and at least 14 wins.

Sydney, Freo, Melbourne, Hawthorn and North are our biggest threats IMHO.

Bulldogs and the Cats to fall away.

Adelaide, Port and West Coast to be in development stages.

Richmond, Essendon* and Brisbane to not be any worry at all.

Gold Coast could be a threat with their growing list, but who knows.

Pies and Saints to be around the top, but i reckon our list has the potential to beat them.

Perhaps we should be targeting a finals win?

Winning a home final is what the pass mark should be. The aim should be final 4.

This year @ round 11 we where 7-4. We all know what happened after that.
Next year we duplicate that and finish of with at least the same = 14-8.
That should give us top 4-6 positioning and home final.
Then we need to win and let ride from there.
That is our summarised bottom line budget for 2011.
