Take it. We can roll it over up until 2014. In effect, they're worth roughly the same.

The problem with using pick 14 in either 2011 2012, 2013 or 2014 is that we may end up with pick 14 in each of those years leaving us with 2 x pick 14, but will only be able to use pick 14 once, bcause there's no such thing as 2 x pick 14 in any given year.

If allowed to use both picks 14 in a given year, which one do we use first?

Gotcha

Pick 14 is pick 14 and is only for this year. The Bock pick is pick 26 or 27 this year, and can be held for another 3 or 4 years, where it could be as high as 19.

Given the story of Juddy and Swanny at the races I wouldn't be surprised if the AFL try to strip us of draft picks for tapping up. It's the way things work isn't it? Whenever something decent happens at Carlton it's because we cheated the salary & killed JFK?

Pick 14 for Jacobs is not enough. Such a promising player in an important position. Quality ruckmen are rare.

What are the chances that we pick up a player equal to or better than Jacobs considering the next few drafts are compromised?

Id rather trade Hampson...he still has a lot more to learn

You might want to trade Hampson, but if you're not going to get enough in return for us to address one of our deficiencies, then there's no point.

We'll get something we need for Jacobs precisely because he's got some value. That's the way these things work.

Do we seriously think we'd get offered as much for Hammer as we would for Jacobs? It'd be totally pointless.

Jacobs will be getting offered more game time. Possibly no 1 ruck and probably the sort of money we had to pay Warnoch to get him over.
You would hope the Blues are not going to offer a similar contract to a player we have a surplus of. It would not make sense in terms of TPP and list management.

I would say Jacobs will be pretty keen to move for career reasons.

Do we trade one of Garlett, Betts, Kerr and Yarran if we have more than we need?

I don't see Essendon* offering up a talented young KPP because they need a midfielder.

I'd like to keep all four rucks if it's possible.

North seem to survive OK with Goldstein, Hale, Petrie (pinch hitter) and McIntosh on their list.

We might if we show them a copy of Mumford winning one vote against Sauce in round 14.

Hampson was more competive against Mumford and did more around the ground than Jacobs.

Jacobs got on top of Mumford in the final because he was playing with a strained medial ligament.

KPP's are different. You can have 7 fighting for say 4 or 5 positions. We have 4 fighting for 1, who have yet to prove that they could hold down any other position on the field.

Yeah, Nth 'survive OK' but also only won 11 games.

Highly unlikely that Hale will be staying on their list, because (like our 4th ruckman) he's excess to needs.

Had a thought, who do we think is better Warnock or Jacobs? If it's Jacobs maybe we should trade Warnock.....

Just putting it out there.

I like Sammy but Warnock could be the best ruckman in the comp in a couple of years.

I know you're just putting it out there, but fair dinkum, I really expect the Warnock doubters to show some respect of Warnock and his potential. It's for real.

Warnock WILL be a great ruckman in 2 years time. There will be no mobile Cox, Sandilands or who ever else is a good ruckman today to take the No 1 mantle from Warnock.

Jacobs is good, but he made his mark in the elimination finals against the Swans with his 44 hit outs.............lets remember, he was up against Mumford on one leg and part time Cloke like ruck, 196cm Jesse White.

Jacobs will never reach the heights 206 will.

Warnock v Jacobs
In pure rucking ability Warnock is at least as good as Sauce except Warnock is a very good mark and getting better as well as an outstanding long straight kick.

Warnocks got to stay.

Jacobs is out of contract. People forget that. We can't ask the world and if he decides he's going to Adelaide we may have to settle for what we can get.

By contrast, we can play real hardball with Walker given he's contracted.

Sammy has had a terrific four or five weeks of footy including at VFL level and has improved consistantly over his journey with Carlton. If he wants to go back home, there is no worries about that. He is a worthy man to have worn our famous jumper.

We are lucky that we have four (well, lets say three and one gun) blokes with whom there is division as to who is best. Surely that indicates each is good in their own way. i just hope this ends up being positive for all concerned as it surely has the potential to be so.

'could be'......... 'WILL BE'

I'm not a Warnock doubter at all, I've been a massive fan since I first saw him at Freo and loved what I saw this year. I'm also a massive fan of Jacobs. He looks like a good old fashioned ruckman and something tells me he'll be a big game player. My preference is to keep Jacobs and trade Hampson.
