If you look at the number of votes ech team collected it does show that the higher the teams are on the ladder the more votes players from those teams won. But this is an individual award and Judd didn't have other players attracting votes with Simmo next best with 9.

If you look at the history of the Brownlow, you will notice that this is an award whereby players of bottom teams poll well because his team mates weren't pinching votes.

That was the case historically, but since about the mid 90s (and certainly since the Aker and Black won theirs) it's been mostly winners from the very top teams.

FFS - we have everyone in the football community providing us with the Chris Grant and Corey McKernan sob stories saying why they should be Brownlow Medallists and how stiff they were and boo fricketty hoo.

But because its Carlton we get the media jumping on the Judd was lucky bandwagon just to pander to all the ferals who cant stand our success.

They can all GAGF as far as I am concerned - and before anybody asks its school holidays.

I was very surprised by that.

I remember watching this game at the ground and I thought this was one of his usual "Judd-like" games. He won the hard ones and he brought us back into the game to almost pinch it. Barlow was obviously killing getting loose for 4 goals and he deserved the BOG.

I was really surprised with all the media feedback saying he got touched up by McPhee when I thought Judd clearly won that battle. I did see the replay later and with all the extra footage they show of McPhee doing all the dirty stuff and seeing close up 'straight faced' Judd reacting to that, it's understandable the performance in it's entirety can get lost in all the little stuff the networks or even the radio stations choose to highlight.

In the purest football sense, Barlow and Judd were by far the hardest workers and best footballers on the day. Don't let anyone tell you different.

They adjusted for the fact that he had to carry McPhee around on his back all day. Good effort in the end.

It's also important to remember that we got defeated by 9 points. It was a close one, not a flogging. We all reacted like it was because we expected to beat Freo at home. In close games players from both teams almost always get votes.
