Forget about Cornes, how the F@%&#! did B Harvey get in and get above N Stevens. This guy is clueless. Why is there such importance placed on his list. I see him more as the politics and features writer not as any sort of expert. Disgrace of a writer in a disgrace of a paper
I think any sense of importance stems from the broader footballing industry feeding on itself, rather than any semblance of serious credibility. Regardless of who makes Sheahan's list it is just his opinion and an almost impossible task as different players mean different things to their respective teams.
Example, as sensational as Voss, Lappin, Black and Akermanis are, are they individually more important to the Lions than, say, Jonathon Brown. With such a depth of midfielders the Lions could hope to cover any one of their fab four, but with Brown missing that is harder to cover.
It's a bit like the
Wheels Car of the Year, every year the following issue is littered with people dissing the mag for their decision, regardless of which car wins. Yet, if people just chilled a bit and let the magazine make it's own decision and respect that they may come to a different conclusion then there'd be a few less ulcers around.
IMO Sheahan's top 50 creates controversy because most people reckon they could do it better. I'm not saying that people could or could not compile a better list, but it's just one person's opinion.
