In this day and age of modern footy, there always seems to be a player who gets cheap junk possesions playing as a loose defender in the backline.

For Example.................... at Hawthorn, that man is Luke Hodge.

I have no problems with Bryce being that man for us because he uses the ball so bloody well. I reckon we leave him in this position cause he's looking pretty setled at the moment.

..i think it's also the fact he has a knack of knowing when to get loose, and when to stay tight.. ..he had great numbers i thought.. ..not as loose as it looked either with 16 contested possies.. ..and out of the 45 possies, 30 he got in the midfield.. ..so he's not chip chipping back and forth in the defence, getting easy one-two possies..

There were times when he was under extreme pressure, yet still managed to execute a perfect pass. One of the primary reasons the game became a cruise for us was due to Gibbs being so effective down back. As Ratten pointed out, our forward line didn't function very well, and if it had, we would've won by considerably more.

Worsfold is kidding himself when he says that leaving Gibbs to run free was good strategy.

Very true.

Gibbs had 16 contested possessions. West Coast had 15 players who got their hands on the ball 15 times or less.

He absolutely killed them!

Unless he was saying having a spare man back stopped our forward line from functioning and that outweighed what gibbs was doing at the other end and the scoring in the second half proved that.

I dont agree but i can see what we was trying to spin.

Gibbs played a great game.
