Was thinking about this before, what good players stand out in your mind that never got to be part of premiership sucess with the Blues??

A few that I thought of:
Adrian Hickmott- If only he'd have come to the club earlier is all I can say. Gave us guts and determination, particularly when we were on our knees in 2002-03.

Aaron Hamill- Speaks for itself really. He would have slotted in nicely into a Carlton premiership side. Genuine hard-nut.

Lance Whitnall- Leading goalkicker on several occasions, in his prime of 1999-2001 he would have been a great addition to a premiership team.

I'm sure there are plenty more.

Flicked through the Blueseum and came up with a stack of players who had excellent careers, most in our droughts of 1916-38 and 1948-68:

Laurie Kerr
Gordon Collis
Alex Duncan
Horrie Clover
Ansell Clarke
Joe Kelly
Matthew Allan
Eric Huxtable
Doug Beasy

Ray Brew
Graham Donaldson
Colin Martyn

All were at least very good footballers. Many represented Victoria, won B&Fs, and captained the club. There would probably be some others whose careers overlapped premiership years but missed out for some reason...

Matty Lappin. Would have loved for him to have won a premiership with the Blues.

Very good career considering his body size and was great to watch! :thumbsup:

Wouldn't say Whitnall was 'very low' in his prime. Kicked 70 goals in 2000 which is a fair effort.

my thoughts are that whitnall and hammil got what they deserved which was sweet FA.

not comittment one way or the other.

QFT, and his speecy at have at half time and his disallowed goal (would have put us 2 gls up) in the 99 gannie showed how much he wanted it.

Might be a little off-topic, but I thought Kouta deserved more than one flag, particularly between 1999-2001 when at the height of his career.

go back to the late 90's and look at the list and look at all the players who had played since the late 60's and i believe blackwell was the only 100 game player without a premiership.

My point exactly. He came in on the tail end of a very good team, then was apart of a pretty good team in 1999/early 2000s.
