I think our team this year holds some similarities with our team of 1998. There is a good core quality of decent players in our team, we've had a few players leave our club such as Fev and Stevens (like sticks, diesel, madden in 97), but similar to 98 we have a core of very solid young players in our team who will continue to grow and improve every week.

In 98 we had Lance Whitnall beginning to emerge as a forward, this year we have Henderson and Waite who will spend a lot more time up forward and could kick 50+. In 98 we had Fraser Brown, this year we have Brock Mclean. In 98 we had Allan/Porter this year we have Kreuzer/Warnock. In 98 we had SOS (who no one can compare to) now we have a very solid rock down back named Jamison. In 98 we had Lappin/ Pearce as 3rd forward and crumbing types and now we have Betts/Yarran as dangerous types up forward. I'm hoping to see Mitch Robinson develop over the next couple of years as an Adrian Hickmott type, a gritty defensive forward who can harass and kick goals.

On the whole I think the team of 98 is a little more experienced and perhaps slightly advanced to what our group now is, but that said I think our team is set for a very good future. Go blues!

No 1 Blue - not disrespect to your enthusiasm, but the analogy loses me when we consider potentials. ie the 1998 (plus years) side delivered zero.

However, i am with you with respect to the potential of this current list. If the cards fall correctly the upside is significant.

I mentioned the similarities to 1998 in another post, but also the fact that this side has a much greater potential upside and more longevity in it. The main similarity is the new forward line.

Also if we want more similarities, we won our first game in 1998 then lost our next 8 :yikes:
