I'm excited every pre-season....if you can't generate some enthusiasm before anything happens, what's the point of being involved?

FWIW I think we have so many things to look forward to this year:

A forward line that will see our midfielders kicking to half a dozen options rather than just one.

The continued development of Kreuz, Hammer and Sauce, not to mention the long awaited debut of 206 - is he as good as we think he is or will he disappoint?

The ongoing development of our back six into a cohesive and attacking defensive unit led by injury free (hopefully!!) Jamison and Bower.

The introduction of McLean into the midfield and a refreshed Hadley which will not only give us more grunt in the middle but also take some of the heat off our ball carriers.

The likes of Browne, O'keeffe, Armfield and Robinson pushing to get and consolidate positions within the team.

Waite and Walker returning from injury and giving us that X factor everyone keeps talking about.

The introduction of Lucas (who looks a gem), Davies and Kerr not to mention the development of our rookies led by Donaldson who sounds pretty freakin good going by the training reports.

YARRAN!!!!!

KREEEUUUZZZ!!!

I could go on but I'm going to stop now as I'm beginning to feel a little lightheaded.

Point I'm trying to make is we have a young and exciting list which in my opinion has almost unlimited potential, instead of looking at all the negatives why cant we just recognise that whatever the results are in the first few weeks our boys will just get better and better as the season unfolds.

Seriously, who cares if we lose a few games early on as long as we start to gel as a team and gain confidence and trust in each other.

Mark my words, success is just around the corner for us, any short term failure will just make us stronger. By 2011/12 we will be so good all the negative posters will have to find something else to complain about.

OMG, just realised I havent even mentioned Juddie or Murph or Gibbsy or (starting to get lightheaded again)...

LOL!!

The poster indicated Henderson is a KPP player "LIKE" Kennedy.

I disagreed with that comparison. I didn't mean that Henderson is NOT a KPP

Pretty simple. One has the initials JK, the other LH

Yes they are both KPP. However from what I have seen of the way JK plays KP and the way LH plays KP, I do not think they are similar.

Anyway the point of my original post was to reply to the OP question on whether I felt excited. I provided details as to why I was more disappointed than excited. That was my opinion. Its how I feel, which is what the OP was asking for - feedback on how people were feeling.....

I'm sorry if my feelings are too negative for some. I don't think I should have to pretend everything is all rosy when it clearly isn't.

Of course I am hopeful that the season the Blues have is a good one. I just feel some of the key components of increasing the likelihood of that happening, are a bit fragile at the moment and that has to do with the things I pointed out in my original post.

AKA. I don't know why they're not similar but i'm going to continue taking shots at Henderson because he will never replace my beloved Fevola

Warbs, Juzzy was assuming that's what BRMW was saying/thinking.

Juzzy, don't put words in other posters mouths please.

Juzzy Juzzy Juzzy

Don't take shots at Henderson. He's a Carlton player.

When Fev stuffed up and the decision to trade him was made by the board (which Fev understood the reasoning very well, and doesn't hold anything against Carlton for it), Bradshaw and Richetelli were earmarked for the swap. Neither of them wanted to step foot into the CFC squad.

We could have really been shafted in that deal and thankfully Henderson put his hand up and chose to come to Carlton. He chose to come to CARLTON. In other words, he really wanted to become a Carlton player.

Hendo is not Fev, but we have him and imo he'll be a better CHF than Fev would ever be. He'll never be a better FF than Fev. That's life, and imo with him and pick 12 we got better than the next best offer. Be grateful.

Henderson is an innocent party in the Fev fiasco and should be treated with respect. He has done all he has been asked to do since his arrival and is fitting in nicely.

Henderson will be a 10 year player at Carlton, so enjoy his tenure. Enjoy Carlton. Enjoy your footy.

I'll miss Fev too, but he's gone now, just like Jezza, Crosswell, Hamill, Campo were gone, and you learn to live with it.

Really mate you should shed some more light (specifics) on this

Otherwise it's a bit hard to believe 'issues' still exist

I wouldnt mind a really quiet pre-season unlike this years.
but that being said,

Whats done is done, kaput.

What gets me excited is sitting on that train heading in to the game full of optimism and just pure excitment that im about to see the carlton boys again, regardless of what happend the previous week or the previous season. Its always the same feelings and i love it.

and i also get excited when its been a really close the whole match, but in the 5 mins, we slam on that 4th goal in a row to guarantee us the win. The roar from us supporters when the goal goes through sends shivers up my spine when im at the ground or sitting on the couch at home.

or when a tackle gets laid in our defensive 50 and we get the turnover and stream it down to the other end for another goal.

actually, its all pretty much exciting!

Get on it.

I remember after Fev was traded one of the first things I said here was that it was a 'brave new world', and this still holds true. Only now, we all need to be braver than we hoped to be, even after Fev's departure. It's fair enough that people are apprehensive about what's to come, you can't avoid hints to a rough year ahead no matter how rosey your glasses:

- Losing a Coleman medallist (and a 2nd rd pick) for a talented but as yet unproven key forward and a draft pick we used on 'another bloody midfielder'
- A tough draw
- Juddy out for three weeks
- Question marks over Murph, Hendo and Waite to be right for the start of the season (despite what the coaching staff says)
- Three quality players on the outer for being stupid, allegedly jeopardising a major sponsorship (which we are still yet to sign for the year)
- Trying to change a one-dimensional forward line into an unpredictable beast overnight
- Every 'expert' in town sticking the boot in at every opportunity, loving every minute of it, while puff pieces on every other team come thick and fast (although surprisingly very few involving any of the teams who were genuine premiership threats last year)
- Memories of last season smashings where more disciplined opposition had our midfield chasing tail
- The sting of THAT last quarter in the elimination final
- Questions over Jamo, Walker and Warnock finally getting some games in a row
- Questions over the club's ability to handle bad press, inept communication and perceived 'binge culture'

But there's a lot to excite us too
- The acquisition of McLean (and fitness of Hadley) to reduce Juddy's workload and set our boys loose
- Another year into Yarran, Robinson, Garlett, Austin,
- Memories of beating the eventual premiers and falling just short of knocking off the other grand finalist
- A ruck division that will soon be the envy of the rest of the comp
- GIBBS and Kruezer looking as though they're ready to make that next step to being elite
- Players on the sidelines who possess the talent to make it at this level
- Obtaining at least two potential 10-year players for the CFC
- New facilities that are the envy of all
- The continued improvement of Bower, JR, AJ,
- Another year of our young backline playing together as a unit
- Plenty left in our salary cap to land a big fish at the end of the year with the onset of GC17

Indeed, 2010 is unchartered territory. We will experience some pain, frustration, hardship. But we will also see new light that we may not have expected. All we can do is trek that river into the heart of darkness toegther, united, and see what awaits at the end.
